... and there dies free dining. At least that is my guess. Last year free dining was shortened and this year with a longer fest, it could be that it pushes it right off the calendar.

May I ask the reliability of this announcement? Is it on an official Disney site somewhere? Not that you have ever given us a reason to doubt you! :)

I have had free dining during F&W before, so it is possible. Free dining offers in general have been cut back/restricted more in recent years, F&W or not.

Yikes. Is this further proof that the power that be view Epcot as a food court and not much else? While I love F&W fest, pushing it longer and longer just seems like a money grab. Especially with F&W lite starting up soon.
I don't know why this surprises you. Disney is a for profit company, money grab is why they are in business. Why do people forget that and then act suprised when these things happen. If the money grab could be extended to all year and still work they would do it. It's not a church, or a charity, it a business. If they could make more money by eliminating Mickey Mouse then they would hang him from the castle and call in Samanta Brown to cover it for TV.

It's not a magical playground, it's a business who takes your money and offers you entertainment in return, No different than a movie or a pro sports team. Accepting the reality of the situation will make your life and your view of things a lot less stressful. I recommend that we stop trying to force Disney's round peg into some unrealistic square hole.

(not you specifically, but much of the Disney fan community can use this advice) I for one love Disney, but I love it for what it is. Not what I wished it would be.

I was so excited they were extending the dates to November 17th when I saw the headline, sadly we're not be able to enjoy F&W this year.

We have already booked at Disney Boardwalk Villas for a weekend in October. Hope to be fast enough on the phone this year to get reserved seating for Party of the Senses.

We are debating whether to take our trip during Food and Wine this year, how bad do the crowds get for this? Does it effect the crowds at the other parks or just Epcot?

Just Epcot. Weekends and after dark are busy. Lines at some of the kiosks can be 30mins or so during the busier times.
