Absolutely, couldn't agree more. AK needs more family friendly attractions, one or two dark rides based on classic Disney films like The Lion King and The Jungle Book would fit the bill nicely to go along with whatever they're doing with Avatar. Doesn't just add more attractions but diversifies what the park currently offers and addresses areas where it might be lacking.

Look, I never said I don't enjoy the old dark rides for what they are/were. My family still rode Snow White, and would certainly take it over the M&G. The "Classic" dark ride and it's retelling of the story is from an era when one couldn't replay the story in the comforts of their own home. Unless new dark rides are immersive, they will fail to be more than just "Meh". Mermaid, is Meh...

AVATAR, AVATAR, AVATAR... Oh, how I didn't like you! But all of this talk about putting cartoons in DAK, has me excited for your arrival.

Something tells me this is the big park makeover/expansion project we were waiting for... But we thought it was going to be for DHS... I guess any hope for a DHS makeover/expansion project will now have to wait until this one is finished...

Avatar + continued parade + night time show would be a good start to making it a full day, but it still needs a couple more rides on top of that. Not E-tickets necessarily (couldn't hurt) but a couple C- and D-tickets, especially of the mild thrill/family friendly variety. Even just some more flat rides at Dinorama or on Discovery Island would help.

I think there was talk about a new nighttime parade along the river wasn't there? I'm not sure about Mickey's Jungle Parade, but yes that may be chopped from what Ive seen.

I agree that a couple smaller attractions would be great, but for someone that visits only every few years I think AK is an all day park. When you consider riding the safari, doing the animal treks, taking in Lion King & Nemo, Dinosaur, Everest, Bugs Life, lunch, etc., doing most all of it takes time. However for frequent visitors I see your point.

800 million is a lot of Mickey bars... Double the budget of New Fantasyland.

If that number is right.

What is likely to be right is the 175,000 SF of building footprint on the drainage drawings. That is a lot of area. Mind you - that is ground floor. If any of these structures are Multi-story we are looking at a massive build.

Color me optimistic.

When they dumped the avatar project on us in the first place, then forgot to flush?

Really though, I'd like to see them build huge and impressive structures, but it will all mean nothing is there's no substance behind it. I hope the ride lineup meets the expectations of the overall land, ala radiator springs.

There's no sense in building a gorgeous hut in the middle of a fantasy world, only to put DVC sales booths in it.

Considering how easy is to leak and then spread news on anything due of the extensive information reach of the internet age... I think that is very hard to actually achieve.

And one of the rides sucks right? Flying tires?

Just saying that IF the simulator is as mind blowing as we hope and the boat ride does look promising... The boat ride definitely has more potential than the Mater ride and the Not So Flying Tires. The renderings of the environment look incredible. This has the potential as an absolutely solid addition and people are acting like TDO is putting up circus tents again.

We all get that AK needs more rides. Two probably isn't enough. But this goes a long way to making the park a big time draw.
