Both. I see them all over at Disney World and don't bat an eye.

Anyone who judges fannypack wearers (or judges anything as a "fashion don't" for that matter) has their priorities in the wrong place. In my opinion, there is absolutely NO BETTER PARK BAG in Disney World. It is effortless to wear, can go on all the attractions with you, keeps your valuables where you can see them, stays dry on wet rides (due to the material, and the fact that it is on a part of the body typically protected by lap bars and whatnot), can't get accidentally set down and left somewhere, is easy to access, and is just the right size to hold the essentials.

DH and I have switched to other things (he to cargo shorts with pockets, and I to a small crossbody purse), solely for the sake of fashion, but I still can't deny that the classic " pack" was always a better and more practical solution.

The fannypack is a horrid invention, for the sake of asthetics. Is it functional? Yes. Is it stylish? Heck no. My mom will not use anything else on her trips to WDW than a pack. The only other place she will wear a fannypack is when we have a garage sale.
They are hard to find for sale around here, so they might becoming a rarity.

Handy? Yes. Fashion faux pas? Totally. Nothing a pack can do that a simple small back pack can't do better. LL Bean sells a very nice water-resistant bag that's relatively inexpensive. This is what we bought specifically for our last WDW outing. It's super lightweight, easy to carry, easy to stow and resists water. We took it on Kali River Rapids and Splash Mountain and stayed dry inside (we still put wallets, cameras and spare kid's clothes in gallon freezer bags for safety).

I so miss my fannie packs. I loved them. I too have been shamed for their use and haven't used one in many many years because of the shaming, not because I didn't find them the best option at the time.

My first fannie pack, black, was one with a Mickey's white paw, a free American Express gift at check in. They started it!

Not a chance. I can't imagine the comments from family and friends if I came home and all my pictures show me wearing a Fannie pack. To each their own, but not for me.
