After taxes and surcharges it comes to about $40/day.
I'm getting $28 including taxes and surcharges.

So are we going to see charging stations at the resorts and theme park parking lots?

They may be there already and I might just not be paying attention, but wouldn't a certain amount of infrastructure would be needed to make this practical at WDW?

There are none on WDW property so far.

From what I have seen, the installation of these does not require much. Basically some allocated parking spaces with a charger at the front. Looking around the web I see some of these are free of charge to use, some charge around $1 for a full charge.

Depending on placement, that could make things really convenient and a reason to go electric for a trip or really inconvenient. I'd love to see them really push for this and have them everywhere though.

Oh...silly me, I didn't take into account that it changes depending on when you go. I was pricing it out for October for my mother. It came to $39 and change per day.

EDIT: Do you know of anybody that is renting Chevy Volts? I only see the Leaf on Enterprise.
It looks to be just the Leaf so far. Hopefully they will offer the Volt as this program rolls out. GM are involved, so it would seem likely.

Fascinating!

Natural gas makes up for 62% of the electricity generation in Florida currently, with coal and nuclear making up the rest. The share of natural gas in that mix is increasing every year in Florida and will continue. And there's big new natural gas pipelines under construction into Florida from the north, so more of the current glut of natural gas will be arriving in bigger numbers into Florida through the decade. So FRACK AWAY in Pennsylvania and Texas and North Dakota and get that natural gas flowing to fuel the rental car fleets of Florida!

This is fabulous news that our nation's growing energy boom is weaning us off of foreign oil at every level of the economy. It would be great to see Disney turn its fleet of privately-owned buses and WDW transport into natural gas fueled vehicles, or electric vehicles fueled by natural gas power plants.

Aren't the trams at Disneyland powered by natural gas? I swear they are CNG powered Trams...

What's the big deal? These cars are so small it'd be hard to fit a family of plus luggage. You'll save what, maybe $50 on gas?

It's not like they only rent minivans and SUVs at the airport. Plenty of compact and intermediate sized cars are rented. Not everyone has kids and tons of luggage. A couple on vacation with 2 or 3 large suitcases or an individual person traveling for business would have no problem fitting in a Leaf.

It's not just about saving money. Offering these cars for rental is a great way to get people exposure to electric cars. If people try them and like them they might end up buying one.
