Honestly...

Disney..want to get a lot more traffic to Downtown Disney? Call Tesla. They will install a supercharge station there for FREE. Seeing how the nearest one is in port orange, it would draw many people to the area to recharge... and hey..maybe eat and shop!

Go one further. Put in a Tesla dealership. The amount of foot traffic seeing their cars would be worth the lease cost.

That is actually a really good idea and Ellon Musk is someone that Disney should be trying to get close to. There patent portfolio and willingness to share to pursue the goal of increasing electric car usage could be of huge value to the imagineers in developing future attractions. Would have been a much better Test Track partner than the Tron thing we got.

Just realized something else, Elon Musk and his vision of the tube trains means that he likely has many patents that could be used to make the next generation of monorails way more efficient than the current. Maybe Disney can even partner with him to introduce the world's first hyper loop system connecting Epcot to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. A truly futuristic transportation system that could still feel magical like the monorails but would be much more economical to build and operate. This is a partnership that has to happen.

Seems like a no brainer for a partnership or at the very least a sponsorship. When WDW and especially EPCOT were being built Disney partnered with the top companies in industry and some of the most innovative too. It's a shame that kind of relationship doesn't seem as common these days. Especially with Jobs on the BOD for a little while I'm surprised Apple didn't have a bigger partnership with TWDC. Musk would be a good partner. Electric cars for the Speedway brought to you by Tesla. He could also bring in Solar City to equip DLR and WDW with solar panels.

On the Hyperloop: Wow!!! 354 miles in 35 minutes is crazy fast. And a 354 mile track that would only cost $6B to build? That's insanely cheap compared to the monorail prices thrown around.

A hyperloop is for pretty long distance travel. It's supposed to go twice as fast as an airplane, if I'm correct. I don't think it'd be reasonable to go as short a distance as from Epcot to Animal Kingdom. Now if it went from WDW to Disneyland, that would be cool.

Maybe they could build it so it could take me from my WDW hotel room to Universal in less than 3 minutes:eek:;)

That would be cool:cool:

I'd like to know how an average speed of 598 MPH (from the Wikipedia link) is twice as fast as an airplane. To the earlier comment, a hyperloop wouldn't make the monorail any more efficient. The efficiency gain is by cutting down friction and drag at high speed. At monorail speed the effect would be negligible and you'd never want to accelerate a short distance train like the monorail to a higher speed because then you'd really be inefficient like flooring your car and stopping short in 1/4 mile over and over.

I'm all for Elon Musk's vision and innovation but I'd be shocked if they could actually build 354 miles for only $6 Billion. It cost $1.2 Billion for the I-595 reconstruction project and that was a mostly at grade roadway and around 8 miles or so.

$6B is what it would cost to build without corrupt politicians and unions. Once you get done bribing everyone and overpaying for labor the cost is $2.3 Trillion;)
