Ok, I need to order our costumes (I've been slack)...

I haven't done a halloween with the kid in a few years, so I figure we'll get decked out for the Pirates Night on the Fantasy in a week and a half (wow, it's that close). I've already got some black nail polish and makeup for her as well as some temporary tattoos...

Anyhow, I've posted options before, and collected my ex's opinion...but I am still not sure.

Which costume would you choose for her (she's 8)?

Anyhow, I need to order and get this stuff delivered, so this poll will close Tuesday night.

Love to hear other opinions, ideas, thoughts!

Option 1 (yes, I'll get the boot covers, tights and glove, as well as some bangles, but I'll skip the sword)

Option 2 (includes hat, I'll skip the boots, and replace them with pink tights...)

Option 3 (comes with headscarf. I'll get the tights and boots as well)

And, for me...

Option 1 (my personal favorite...I won't do the headscarf...nice shirt, and will wear with shorts)

Option 2 (Going all out! Oh, and I won't wear eyeshadow or the scarf with dreadlocks, sorry ladies)

I voted last night but didn't comment. I should.

I voted option 3 for your daughter because it's the least busy of the costumes. It doesn't make her look overdone. And I like that she'd have the boots and tights so it looks totally complete.

I voted option 2 for you because if your daughter is dressed up it'll be more fun for her if you are, too. Plus, your pics will look amazing. If you're going to do it, go all the way!

And I cannot wait to see these pics!!!!

All-righty, then. I voted for #2 for the kid, because I think the idea of the bright pink tights sounds cute, and it's got a hat. I like hats, they're very pirate-y.

(side note: I'm trying to figure out if I have the nerve to wear my pirate hat to dinner at Palo. I wore it to dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse one Halloween. LBD with a plumed pirate hat? It's a look...around LOL)

As to your own costume, @englanddg, I voted for #1 because it looks more comfortable, and you strike me as a comfort-liking kind of guy. Also, I think that #2 might look not quite right bare-headed--if you were going to get a proper pirate hat, then I'd go with #2.

I voted for #1 for both of you. To me, #1 for the girls looks the most piratey and the least wench-like, so that's the one I would've picked for my daughter when she was 8. And I picked #1 for you because that's the one I would personally be more comfortable in. (And yes, I realize my answers are really all about me. Sorry.)

Which one does the Kid like? :cautious:

or is it a surprise?

Yes, that's right. She won't find out about the cruise until she gets the scheduled character call from Mickey during our breakfast at Chef Mickeys they morning of the cruise.

I suppose I could ask her opinion which she likes, but she knows about the pirate night on the cruise ship, and I worry it might give it away...

BEST DAD EVER! I wish my parents surprised me like that… I guess that wouldn’t work considering I basically booked all our trips anyway… oh well

By the way, I kid option 2- not sure why… seems more girly and for you I chose 1, it’s fancy yet still piratey. We don’t want you getting kicked off the ship for looking too much like Jack Sparrow with option 2 right? LOL

Thanks all for the feedback.

I ran it by her mom again to get some other feedback, and we settled on option 2 - This one.

I picked up some comfortable looking black shoes (not boots) for the kiddo from Payless and some pink stockings today that should come close to the pink on the costume (it hasn't gotten here yet, so I won't know for sure until tomorrow or tuesday.

Now, for me, I was thinking about mixing the two other costumes (shirt from the first option, pants and boots from the second), but when I started shopping I found a great deal on this costume...

Very similar to option 2 above, in fact, i think it's pretty much the same costume with a hat added. The funny thing is, once I started piecing together the other costume, this one came out about 15 dollars cheaper. So...my pocket did the final voting!

Anyhow, thanks again for everyone's votes and input! It was a great help!

So how much for the adult costume, and where did you get it? I'm thinking of going all out for Pirate Night in January.
$63 or so after shipping, and somehow my ex had dug up a 10% off promo code for them (she's ordered costumes from them before, and is the sort of person who actually reads spam emails...I...do not <grin>)

I got it from here.

Also, poke around on that site. They have cheaper options that looked pretty good, but for a few more bucks I could do the one I got...plus, it includes everything (down to pants and boots)...which is really where I found the other costumes "get" you...they are cheaper, but once you start adding sashes, belts, boots, hat (decided I did want a hat, since the kid will have one) etc...the price shoots up quickly!
