Y'all's responses have been great and definitely make things easier. We love going to 'Ohana but love the trip via boat/monorail getting there so I may just stick it out next year with a moderate resort but definitely take in more restaurants.
location of the room is key but that can be said with either. You mentioned a car which changes things for those that only do Disney transportation. I've stayed in Dixie Landings and got soaked trying to get to the bus stop or walked a mile. The same can be said about AKL but I don't get wet or freeze in Dec.

Never, ever go to Vegas. I've been lost in my share of casino hotels. Those places are a complete maze and difficult to navigate even when sober which is not a common state there (at least for me)I know it is odd, but I have never cared for interior hallways. There is no question that they have their advantages, (Climate control, privacy, security, access to the main facilities in inclement weather, etc) ,but I completely loose my sense of location and direction in the identical, never ending interior halls of a hotel. It is stupid I know, interior halls are better for 99% of the population, but I like being outside when I am out of my room. I also like the shorter walk to my car that I seem to always have at the resorts with exterior halls.

Pop Werner also overflows to POFQYes there are..All star sports during Pop Warner week.
I don't doubt it. My brother has lived and worked in the casino industry in Vegas since 73. He mentioned getting lost in his own resort before.
Agreed on the values. CSR has the feel of a deluxe resort minus the unique transportation. The lake and pool area are beautiful and It's also pretty centrally located so a quicker bus ride to most parks. For me, the biggest thing has been crowd size. WL has around 700 rooms whereas the moderates average around 2,000. Thus, the resort doesn't feel as packed, particularly when dining. That being said, the moderates are also spread out a lot more and so the number of people isn't quite as noticeable away from the dining halls. I love PORS and CSR looks awesome (will try one day). For the savings, I can sacrifice my time at the deluxes and have a little more spending cash for the parks.
The snob in me refuses to stay at the values. I'd rather stay offsite.
We stayed at New York New York at Vegas and were on the 21st floor. If memory serves me right, they had 4 different elevator systems and it took me over 30 minutes to find my room.Never, ever go to Vegas. Whit!!! Conventionites,Arghhhh.Run for the hills..CSR doesn't feel all that crowded either as a percentage of the people there are staying for a convention rather than going to the parks .
How non-sober were you ?We stayed at New York New York at Vegas and were on the 21st floor. If memory serves me right, they had 4 different elevator systems and it took me over 30 minutes to find my room.
If it means quieter busses then bring it onWhit!!! Conventionites,Arghhhh.Run for the hills..
As sober as Betty Fords judge. How non-sober were you ?
If it means quieter busses then bring it on
When I had clients dealing with the moderate/deluxe choice I always asked them one simple question. Will you use what a deluxe resort has to offer?
There is no arguing that the deluxe resorts are nicer/better than the moderates. What it really comes down to is if you are going to make use of those features that you are paying extra for. If you are, go for it. If not, save the cash and spring for a great dinner at one of the deluxe resorts and soak up a little of the atmosphere for free.
They put chocolate on your pillows at the Deluxe Resorts.
