Oh cr*p I laugh my a$$ off when I read this..hahaWeird that no one has mentioned this but I think they are closing the parks because of this.
A POS, in this case, does not stand for Point Of Sale...I also doubt that they write their own pos software so their provider will most likely update them when they need to.
Only reason I mention this is as being a cast member at a qsr the pos registers running windows xp drasticly slowed when tap to go was installed so this could be a great oppertunity for disney to make the next gen system work at its fullest capability by updating the pos system
Once upon a time....Tell me about Avatarland...
Microsoft no longer supporting Windows XP does not mean that the systems using it will suddenly stop working. It simple means they will no longer be actively updating it, fixing bugs, etc. If Disney's POS systems hardware remains relatively unchanged they will be able to use XP long after MS pulls the plug. I still have component saws that are running Win98Now that microsoft has announced they are not supporting windows xp will this have an effect on the pos system disney uses at all merchandise and quick service and table service restaurants. Will the go towards windows 8 or an apple backed system.
MS dropped XP support years ago.
What disturbs me is that MS no longer sells 7 pro...
I spent half the afternoon setting up a beta lab for 8 pro. Love 8 so far, but need to learn it far better if I'm going to administrate it.
I doubt it -- I don't think Disney has ever had MS support -- they use the software but they have their own IT department that has nothing to do with MS....I don't forsee any changes for the immediate future...just because MS isn't supporting it anymore doesn't mean that companies aren't still using it -- it just means Microsoft won't do any updates to the software nor be available to help with trouble shooting...but again, WDW doesn't need their support.
Its great and stable Except finding people to support it would be a challenge..Good, go to linux, better right off the bat.
