Remy Champagne Brunch

Does anyone know what the deal with the Champagne Brunch at Remy is? I have a reservation but then I was reading the cruise site (official disney) and it said champagne pairs are $25...is the Champagne not included as I would have thought was implied in CHAMPAGNE brunch?

You get 1 glass of champagne included in the $50 upcharge. You can add a champagne pairing which will provide a glass with each course of your meal for the $25 additional. It's like pre-paying the optional wine pairings at dinners. You know? Palo brunch also gives 1 champagne option or bloody mary for each person. We get a mimosa each and I drink both since hubby doesn't like the included options. LOL!

Kelly I was going to ask how the prepaid option was? Is it worth it? Im not a beer drinker, so Id be looking to pay homage to the grape! LOL

Sweetie, I'm no wine/champagne drinker. Seriously. I've tried my hardest to get into wine & champagne but I'm nearing 39 years old and it still hasn't clicked for me. LOL! I personally would NOT pay for the champagne pairing but that's because I don't particularly care for the stuff. I like mimosas okay but would I drink $25 worth of them? I dunno. If they offered a beer pairing...brunch or dinner...I guarantee I'd buy that. Is that bad? Does that make me sound like a total hillbilly???? Am I earning a spot on Buckwild: Senior Edition??? o_O

See above. Not a wine drinker. Beer? Yes. Wine? Not a chance. ;)
I can go either way...I'm originally a beer drinker and really picky with my beers. Wine on the other hand, I just discovered the wineries in upstate NY right across the border in Jersey so I've figured out as long as it's white I can drink anything not Beringer or Sutter Home (or else I'll be out of service with heart burn for hours)...

It just sucks...usually I can ship via UPS whatever I want to drink at WDW if I can't find it down there (even though WDW has introduced me to beers like Abeita products), but DCL does not give you that option to ship :( and from what I saw the brew line is a little too commercial for my liking even though I'm sure I won't be complaining when I'm on the ship

Abita Beer! We lived in Abita Springs, Louisiana for a bit. Ate at the Abita Brew Pub in town many times. Never did go by and do the Brewery tour on Saturday mornings. Wish I had.

You can ship packages to yourself on the ship but I don't think they want you shipping any food or drink items. Bummer. I'd do it if I could, too.

If you have somewhere local to you maybe you can buy some bottles to take with you. Hubby and I put well-padded and sealed liquor bottles in our luggage when flying to/from Orlando for our cruise sans kids last September. We took them out before boarding the ship and carried the bottles onboard. If you bring bottles of your favorite wine you'd just need to pay whatever the corkage fee is to enjoy them during dinners. Also, what are your pre-cruise plans? Are you staying anywhere the night before or flying in the day of? If you are staying at the Hyatt MCO (in the airport) there's a local liquor store that will deliver. You could order whatever beer or wine you want, have it delivered, then carry it onboard the next day. If interested, lemme know. I'll look them up. I signed up for their little rewards program and get emails with specials frequently. LOL! If you're staying at WDW or near the port the night before maybe you could make it out to a local package store. Some of the private transfer companies that you can get from WDW to the port for your cruise will include a free "supply stop" on the way. That could be handy...and worth it!

We did a beer tasting on our last cruise in January and they had some interesting stuff. A few things I'd not seen before but then I'm not the most cultured of gals, either. LOL! My beer experience is somewhat redneck-ish in it's variety.... That's frickin' terrible, isn't it??? LOLOLOLOL!!!! Maybe you could also try a beer tasting, tho. They also do wine tastings, tequila/margarita tastings, cognac, bourbon, mojitos, martinis, etc. Those are fun and a pretty good price for the amounts you get to try. And mixology. That's a nice little variety, too. Thought I'd mention those. ;)

Really? I like to ship my luggage as it's almost half the price than paying the airlines and they told me absolutely not when I called and asked (I didn't even mention anything about perishables)...

Right. No luggage. Because then everyone would do that. I've shipped myself packages of essentials like sunblock, Tervis Tumblers, laundry detergent, highlighters, ziplocks... that sort of stuff. When I've participated in gift exchanges onboard I've shipped as much of my gift exchange stuff ahead as I could within the parameters. You can do it, they just don't want it to become a really widespread thing. If everyone could ship their luggage down probably a LOT of people would. The boxes come onboard with the crew's mail so it could really present some big challenges if half the ship's guests sent their luggage. You know?

We're getting there the morning of and taking I'm guessing the Magic Express to the port unless they do it another way than WDW...anyone know if there's a liquor store in MCO, I know in Newark only the duty free sells them and domestic flights wouldn't be able to access that)? It'll still be cheaper carrying on than buying it onboard and paying corking fee.

Gotcha. You signed up for the transfers then, right? They aren't free like Magical Express (just in case, would hate for someone to be surprised by that). I don't think there's any liquor stores in the airport. I checked last September. You could always wrap some bottles carefully (we used bubble wrap) then encase in 2 layers of plastic. We tucked them into the middle of our suitcases and they arrived just fine.

Yea I paid for one transfer there and have a rental car when we get back to port to get to the Contemporary...I try to avoid Disney Trans as much as possible if it's not a monorail...I did google it and apparently you can purchase from the duty free from domestic flights at MCO you just don't get tax breaks...that being said time to find a map of MCO (last thing I need is to get on their monorail and miss the shop!)...

Has anyone done the wine package? I believe I got one of the two...

I did do the wine package on my last cruise. there are two "levels" - for sake of discussion let's call them basic and upgraded. You can buy them for any number of bottles starting with, I believe 3 and up. When you first purchase the package, they show you the lists of wines that are on your "plan". You can then get wines with dinner in any order you so wish. You can have two bottles one night, none the next, and then three the next night if you so choose. If you have any wine leftover they will either let you take the partial bottle with you, or if you wish they will store it for you for the next night. Storing is not a vacu-vin or anything as fancy as that. They stick the cork back in it and put it on a shelf somewhere.

As for value. I did a 4 bottle "basic" package. I saved about %20 over the cost of buying the bottles on the ship. As for the ship prices, they are pretty much in line with normal restaruant prices, which is roughly 2 x retail. So a $10 bottle of wine in the store would be $20 on board and roughly $18 with the package.

I was happy with the package and the offerings.

You can shop Duty Free on a domestic flight. You just pay duty (ie tax). You are not going to find much in the way of beer at Dufree in EWR though.

a Cooking (corkage) applies if you bring your own. It is to cover cost of glassware, decanting, etc. associated with serving a wine.

I'd be buying wine at the MCO duty free even though I'm considering just doing a package now...I'd have no way to bring wine through security and they don't sell any after so the only choice would be at MCO before we get the magic express or if we get early enough which we should take a cab to publix before our docking time...

Have you tried the Applewood Winery? Best in Warwick in my opinion...this is of course if you are in-fact speaking of Warwick, NY...

No, I have not been to that one. I'll have to head that way once the weather gets a bit better. When you say the best, what makes it the best - the wine, the winery, or both. Warwick winery is nice because they have a nice tasting bar - I forget the exact price, like $5 for 4 or 5 pours and you keep the glass (I am running out of space for them in the house) and they have a really good food place. Buy a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, acheese and cured meat platter and the try and find a quiet spot to sit. I assume Applewood is the same sort of set up. I see it is over by the Gunks - that is some nice hiking too.
