I'd be buying wine at the MCO duty free even though I'm considering just doing a package now...I'd have no way to bring wine through security and they don't sell any after so the only choice would be at MCO before we get the magic express or if we get early enough which we should take a cab to publix before our docking time...

There is a liquor store, I forget the name, in close proximity to the port, if all you are looking for is wine.

No, I have not been to that one. I'll have to head that way once the weather gets a bit better. When you say the best, what makes it the best - the wine, the winery, or both. Warwick winery is nice because they have a nice tasting bar - I forget the exact price, like $5 for 4 or 5 pours and you keep the glass (I am running out of space for them in the house) and they have a really good food place. Buy a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, acheese and cured meat platter and the try and find a quiet spot to sit. I assume Applewood is the same sort of set up. I see it is over by the Gunks - that is some nice hiking too.

Applewood is through downtown, and a right at a light with a gas station and and a bank I believe...I went there to apple pick one and the winery was second cause I figured an apple orachard couldn't be that cool seeing I've been to wineries that specialize in nothing but wine. Boy was I wrong. We got there early and by the time we left the line of cars to get in was pretty intense...you can enjoy their wine and I think order food but I never really ate there. OR you can buy some wine some of their wine and go apple picking...they also have some really good apple wine (i'm a white fan)...I literally just discovered this last year so I'm looking forward to going when it's warmer at the end of the summer...i went when the weather was crappy and I wasn't prepared for how filthy the dog got (dogs were welcome in the bar area as well which was nice, the little one was a hit)...

Well we're suppose to get the airport at 9:45 AM and my boarding is at 12:30 AM...I should have 45 min. - an hour to be able to run somewhere once we get to port canaveral...

I just spoke to a cab company that told me there is a taxi depot right outside the place and it's about $32 round trip if you go to the Publix in the 5000s of N. Atlantic Blvd. of Cocoa Beach...pretty much for the same price as disney, including the cab fare i can get like 20 bottles of wine...

You get 1 glass of champagne included in the $50 upcharge. You can add a champagne pairing which will provide a glass with each course of your meal for the $25 additional. It's like pre-paying the optional wine pairings at dinners. You know? Palo brunch also gives 1 champagne option or bloody mary for each person. We get a mimosa each and I drink both since hubby doesn't like the included options. LOL!

Wait, WHAT?? The champagne is NOT INCLUDED in the Champagne brunch? That's just a whole new level of wrong.

Kelly I was going to ask how the prepaid option was? Is it worth it? Im not a beer drinker, so Id be looking to pay homage to the grape! LOL

Although I do quite like beer, I'll be homage-ing right next to you!! I am planning on packing my Stew Leonard's six-bottle tote and picking up a few bottles to bring on the cruise (and share, of course!) Since you've got the pink covered, I'll get white and red!

I think this will have to be my plan, as well, since I'm only at WDW for one night prior to cruising and was going to take ME.

Geezze, we buy two or three cases of wine every time we hit the Warwick Winery :)

I like their Riesling--it's one of the few I've found that is not too sweet for me--but I've never crossed the bridge to go to the winery. Westchester Wine Warehouse stocks it. ;) Maybe over the summer I'll head out there on a weekend. Is it very busy on the weekends?

I just had a post one or two up about talking to a cab company at the port...going to the publix via a cab if you have the time seems like the best way to go as far as stretching your alcohol budget!

You can have your own bottles poured at dinner for a corkage fee. I forget how much it is. I've read that the prices per glass are pretty much in line with the standard for restaurants. I wouldn't know. The wine selections are vast especially in Palo & Remy who each have their own huge wine displays. There's even one bottle or something in Remy that was mentioned in the movie Ratatouille that costs like thousands of dollars for the one bottle. And if you want it, you can have it. Just takes a willingness to pay.

The champagne brunch includes ONE glass of bubbly. If you want more you pay for them. You can buy by the glass or you can pay the $25 for the pairings for all the courses.

See, in my opinion, the standard restaurant prices for bottles/glasses of wine are outrageous, it's like a 300% markup! Call me a cheap date, but I'm perfectly happy with sub-$20 bottles of wine, and if I can find a decent wine for under $10 (they are out there) it's like Christmas!

I once so enjoyed a white wine at Chefs de France, that I wrote it down so I could try to find it at home. WDW was charging either $6.95 or $8.95 for a glass. I found it at one of my local wine shops for $9.99 a bottle. Even if the corkage fee is $25 a night, it's probably worth it. I dunno.

OK, so $75 total for the five-course Champagne Brunch with Champagne. I might do that. :D

We do a wine package every time we sail. For us to bring wine from home (Canadian taxes and all) and then pay a corking fee.....we've done the math, it's just not worth it. For the hassle, its just easier to pick from the selection on the ship. We've never been disappointed :-)
Enjoy, whatever you decide!

My thought exactly...I'm not cheap but what they charge for alcohol is pirating on the high seas! I can get a nice bottle including corkage for under what one bottle would cost me through Disney after doing the exact math down to including the taxi and all...plus I'm not drinking every bottle at a meal so it's not like I won't have my own corkscrew in my bag to pop one open with when we're lounging on the verandah

I'll have to try theirs. I have to be in the right mood for a sweeter Riesling. The Harvest Moon (a blended white) is a big hit with us. Anybody who tries it ask us where to get it. That is one that we buy by the case.

Weekends can be PACKED depending on the weather and the scheduled entertainment. A nice fall day when they have a good band playing - get there early. They also have an apple orchard for picking and do hay rides and other things like that, so fall is their busy season. Other times of the year is it not so bad.

I want to say it is a Margaux that they have there, but I don't know the vintage.

There wine prices (bottle and glass) do not seem to have any more mark-up than normal restaruant mark up.

I had just planned to bring a cpl btl of white zin with me LOL i just didnt want to pay outlandish prices for a mediocre glass of wine

Define a couple :)

Really, if we were to go on anything more than a 3 night cruise, it would be a logistical undertaking to bring enough wine. I also decide on what to drink depending on what I ordered. I would have to bring a selection - not really working for us.

2 to 3 times retail is standard restaruant mark up on bottle wine. The mark up on per glass is even more. The mark up on hard liquior is even more than wine. The mark up on beer is the smallest.

Restruants make a vast majority of their profits on alcohol sales.

Thought about it...I have better things to do than spend $100 for the two of us and one glass of champagne each...I'll just order some cheese and drink some wine...BAM brunch...
