We are going to book in an hour or so. Final decision help is needed. Between Boardwalk and Beach Club.

The Story:

Who: My DH and I
When: one week from today
What: Resort Only one night get away
Where: well....that's still subject to debate and conversation
Why: A little Disney Magic pre-Valentines Day get away

Some other bits of info:
We have stayed at YC and LOVED the pool. Love the lazy river and sand bottom. Since this is a resort only - we will be using the pool.
We are NOT going into the parks.
We plan on going to DTD and Boardwalk in the evening.
We will have a car.

But now - we can't decide. I am leaning in one direction and my DH in another. I will not tell you who is leaning which way. But we have stayed at neither and both are able to be accessed from the other via a bridge and a boat. So ... we need your help!

I have heard that the Boardwalk Luna pool is closed for refurb till March 1st and because of that Boardwalk guests are allowed to use storm along bay, they are offering a shuttle from the Luna pool area to storm along bay. Something to look in to maybe you could stay at the boardwalk but get the experience of the YC pool you want.

That's a hard choice. I've stayed at both and with kids Beach Club all the way, with no kids I'd have have to pick Boardwalk. Beach Club does have the great pool, so if that is a priority, then stay there. However, Beach Club is a lot more kid-frantic with Cape May, Stormalong Bay and Beach 'n Cream. Being a DVC'er at BCV and having three young kids we're always staying at Beach Club for these reasons. In the future, when the kids are older, I can see me wanting to stay in the more relaxed atmosphere of the Boardwalk.

Boardwalk seems to have a lot more quiet places to escape and hide. It's also closer to more adult activities - the restaurants/bars on the Boardwalk and it's a quick walk to the establishments in the Swan and Dolphin.

If you still can't decide, some decisions just require a coin toss.

Oh my, I totally forgot about that. Now is a great chance to stay at the BWI and still experience Stormalong Bay.

My favorite place at the BWI is the Belle Vue Lounge, a nice quiet place for adults to gather and have drinks. But you can enjoy it even if you are not staying at the BMI. Of course, it's a lot easier to stagger back to the room if you are sleeping at the BWI.

Where can I confirm this info? I will be calling but would be curious to know if it is still in refurb.

I just called and they said that they have nothing listed for refurb at Boardwalk for pool. Just the bakery. hmmmmmm..... But - new development - it appears that BW is out of water view rooms. BC is not. Calling reservations to confirm.

Found this in the DVC forum under Boardwalk Villas - I knew this was discussed somewhere, just couldn't remember where.

Just to clarify, you can swim at the Beach Club Villas pool, not Stormalong Bay.
Actually that is incorrect. It was confirmed on other sites that BWI/BWV guests can use Stormalong Bay when the Luna Park pool is closed. Besides it's only fair since last year YC/BC/BCV guests were allowed to use the Luna Park pool at the Boardwalk, when only part of Stormalong Bay was closed.

UPDATED December 30, 2012 @ 6:00 PM.

I just called the Front Desk and spoke to Danny, who called Recreation and confirmed the following:

Luna Park Pool will close on January 28, 2012
Guests staying at Boardwalk Villas will be permitted to use Storm Along Bay during the closure.

Just an update - I called Boardwalk (well, I know guest services but the number listed for Boardwalk) and they said they didn't see any refurbs for Boardwalk. And then when they patched me over to reservations to confirm availability at Boardwalk, they also confirmed that no refurbs were listed for Boardwalk for all of February. So, i'm going with their info. Thanks though! And good info to know that you can use the pool in the event it is closed.

If staying in that area, BC/YC is the way to go. The ONLY thing you cannot experience at BWI is their pool. Everything else you can stroll around the lake to get to it. I have not been, but have read many reviews that Stormalong bay is almost a vacation in itself.

Just an update....so a friend works at WDW and snapped a pic on instagram yesterday...of the boardwalk pool under construction. I find it totally odd considering I specifically asked guest services and reservations and both said it was not undergoing refurbishment and no plans to. Hmmmmmm.....

You mean when you called Disney and they didn't know anything about the Boardwalk pool construction, you trusted them over us?;)

It does make me question why when you "called Boardwalk (well, I know guest services but the number listed for Boardwalk)", they knew nothing about the refurb. Is their information that poor? It makes me wonder how useful is it to call Disney to confirm anything.:(

I've run into a few instances where the information on wdwmagic.com was more accurate than the information directly from Disney.

I know right! So silly! When I spoke to the first person - I doubted her knowledge. But after the second confirmation I figured, gasp, maybe we were wrong! Alas....we were not! :)
