Well according to my Mardi Gras calendar it's Feb 12th this year.I love Jambalaya & Crawfish & Shrimp, any Creole Cajun cuisine and I'am a happy bunny. But for Feb 16th we are invited out to the last night of an Italian restaurant that is closing it's doors after 47 years. Somehow I don't think Any Cajun food will be on the menu.I'll maybe make a seafood Jambalaya the Sunday before.:)

Well...not sure how I'd celebrate it in WDW, but I can tell you what I'd be eating and drinking if I were celebrating New Orleans style...

1. Pick up a box of Cafe Du Monde beignet mix
2. Since I don't like making it, buy a King Cake from the bakery
3. Make a big pot of gumbo (probably chicken & sausage)
4. Make something(s) involving crawfish, shrimp, blue crab, and/or catfish...just SOOOOOOOO many options
5. DRINKS...well, the drink of choice is the Hurricane, but when it comes to my frozens...there is a place on Bourbon that makes a frozen mudslide that I ADORE...and the purple voodoo juice just a bit farther up Bourbon at Jean LaFitte's would also be something I'd have to throw into the mix.

And thank you for reminding me ... need to check our schedules to see if we can work in gymnastics for our girls next week and one of the daytime Mardi Gras parades. I NEED to replenish our beads. :D

After cleaning lobsters yesterday...I think I want someone to do all the work if we do anything with crab or crawfish anytime soon. However, assuming this recipe is correct...the voodoo is a fairly easy thing to create...

2oz bourbon
1oz Everclear
4oz grape juice
1 cup crushed ice

*obviously, your handy dandy blender would need to break the ice down to make it a more traditional frozen, but still...good stuff.

It's getting warmer this week, and it's slowly starting to get lighter in the evenings, as for Mardi Gras I'm not a big gumbo etc eater, on ash Wednesday however I usually do a traditional fish fry. Yes the puma remembering his childhood always makes fish that Wednesday and on Fridays during lent.

You mean you don't go to jail if you didn't ? Mum always said if you didn't you'd be spending time with Hatter's friends on the other side!

While not N'awlins, Universal Orlando does a GREAT Mardi Gras Celebration. They really go all out for this event. I am going several nights and going to stuff myself with Creole Gumbo, Andouille Sausage, Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice, Beignets, and a couple of Hurricanes from Pat O'Brians. They have a FANTASTIC parade and free concerts for real Zydeco bands from THe Big Easy. I LOVE Mardi Gras!!!!!!!
