The beignets at POFQ will never be mistaken for authentic beignets. Hard to describe but trust me they are different (closer to a sopapilla with powdered sugar than a beignet). I was very disappointed, but that's what I get for thinking they would taste like CDM.

Thanks for the heads up, we may have to just skip that then. Once you have had beignets for NOLA its really hard to enjoy others, but Disney is the best at bringing foods from all over and making them taste like home.

After reading this entire thread I'm so happy I live in South Lousisana. I had Gumbo last night (chicken and sausage), king cake for breakfast and am going to eat fried gator and a blackened catfish with etouffe covering the top this weekend!! We are going to POR between christmas and new years and are really looking forward to how well Disney pulls off some of our favorite things like beignets. We are also very happy that the bar at POR has Abita beer which is made in LA and we LOVE it!!
Sounds good you lucky person you.Ive a friend who lives in Louisiana, is that anywhere near you at Lousisana.? LOL;)

And that's why I've never had them at WDW. I know it sounds awful to the WDW beignet faithfuls, but I've heard the difference is obvious...so I didn't want to set myself up for disappointment.
