Rope drop or Evening EMH?

My fiance and I are going to be at WDW 12/15 - 12/29. We know that starting around 12/21 crowds are going to jump to 9 or 10/10. Someone suggested that we take advantage of evening EMH in order to avoid some of the crowds. DF does not like getting up early and is not too likely to enjoy morning EMH so that's probably out of the question. There's also no way that we can be there for rope drop and last through midnight or 1am for EMH. So basically it has to be one or the other.

Would you rather get up at the crack of dawn and make rope drop to beat the crowds or sleep in and get to the parks a little later but stay for evening EMH to beat the crowds?

Rope drop + afternoon nap at the hotel + back for evening EMH :D

If you have to pick one or the other, it's probably better to get to a park before rope drop. Tell your fiance it's worth it!

Totally agree with your plan! But I know my fiance is going to whine like nobody's business if we stay out til 1am and then I tell him we have to be there for rope drop!

Jesus H .. What is his age?..Getting up before sunrise is awesome.Seeing that Sassagoula river first thing is beautiful. So Come on.What is his age? :)

lol! He's 27. And he HATES getting up before 9 (before 11 is "early") and he gets grumpy if he's been up for too many hours. To be fair, he's a merchant marine and when he goes to work, he works really hard for 2-3 months without a break, so when he's home, I guess he's aloud to complain a little.

That's exactly why morning EMH's are less crowded. Many people don't like to get up early. The late hours have gotten more and more crowded. If you make the early hours, and get everything done, you won't need to stay out until 1. Since we started doing the morning hours, the pace with which we were doing everything has slowed greatly, and we still get everything done we want to do without the stress.

Thanks for that! I know for a fact that we're doing MK rope drop at least on the 21st. My family will be on property for my wedding and I'm making it required fun! ;) They've never been to the World before!

I agree, if it's one or the other, then it's rope drop! I think the park is less crowded then and it's really neat to be one of the first ones down Main Street! :p You can even get a picture with hardly anyone in between you and the castle. Your family will love it. It's always best to go with someone who knows how to do MK right! :D

Rope drop is the best. It's the best way to guarentee a ride on your favorite rides. At least 2 big rides with no waits plus a fastpass. Best way to get stuff accomplished. HANDS DOWN rope drop because most parents arent waking their kids up at the crack of dawn. It really seems quieter and less hectic in the morning. I LOVE Disney mornings - so productive!

In terms of crowds, morning EMH are much better. Lots of people stay late for EMH but have a hard time waking up for morning EMH.

As posted by ratherbeinwdw, many people don't like waking up early. It's vacation (never mind that it's a WDW vacation) and people want to sleep in on vacation.

DW is a morning person. I'm a night person. Guess which EMH we do.;)

vitani88, you're going to have to work this one out with your DF. If he knows what's good for him, he better listen!

Hahaha! I told him what you guys have been saying about morning EMH and he seems to agree that we'll get up early for morning EMH during the crazy busy week. We'll see how well that goes once we actually get there. We will be on our honeymoon, so we might end up sleeping in...

We're probably crazier than a bunch a' s**thouse rats, but we do both in whatever parks we can on whatever day we can. Now that the kiddos are older, we don't even go back to the resort (for any extended period, anyway) during the day. We just like to stay at the Parks and we always find other ways to chill during those long days in them. :)

I just turned 29 and boy do i love to sleep. But hello your in disney wake ur butt up at 6 and stay in the park till closing. :) I do that everyday im there.

I just turned 50 in October and my DW is close-ish to my age (hi hon! :D) and we're both still Park Commandos.
We don't stick to any steadfast schedule and are not overplanners by any means, but we just like to be there all day.
Sometimes the kiddos have a hard time keepin' up with us...!

Theres the answer there. So he hates getting up before 9.00am because he gets Grumpy. You've got to get him a "Grumpy" T-Shirt.Then get him to meet & greet with Snow White.;)

Yep.Couldnt agree more..Late hours in July is mobbed, however early hours are so quiet.I done some filming on my handy cam at 8.05am at HS this year in July. You were lucky to spot a dozen guests walking from the sorcerer hat towards star tours, all you could hear was me saying " good morning" to the CM'S.:)
