Rope drop or Evening EMH?

My fiance and I are going to be at WDW 12/15 - 12/29. We know that starting around 12/21 crowds are going to jump to 9 or 10/10. Someone suggested that we take advantage of evening EMH in order to avoid some of the crowds. DF does not like getting up early and is not too likely to enjoy morning EMH so that's probably out of the question. There's also no way that we can be there for rope drop and last through midnight or 1am for EMH. So basically it has to be one or the other.

Would you rather get up at the crack of dawn and make rope drop to beat the crowds or sleep in and get to the parks a little later but stay for evening EMH to beat the crowds?

Hahaha! I told him what you guys have been saying about morning EMH and he seems to agree that we'll get up early for morning EMH during the crazy busy week. We'll see how well that goes once we actually get there. We will be on our honeymoon, so we might end up sleeping in...
Don't want to sound morbid, but ill do all my sleeping when Iam in Disney heaven.;)

I just turned 50 in October and my DW is close-ish to my age (hi hon! :D) and we're both still Park Commandos.
We don't stick to any steadfast schedule and are not overplanners by any means, but we just like to be there all day.
Sometimes the kiddos have a hard time keepin' up with us...!
Hey!Happy 50th ( late ) but I turn the big 60 next week.In July our wake up call from Stitch was 6.30am every morning and my DS who is 14 and my much younger wife ( love at first sight when I saw her in her stroller ) had a hard time keeping up with me.;)

Totally agree with your plan! But I know my fiance is going to whine like nobody's business if we stay out til 1am and then I tell him we have to be there for rope drop!

You may consider going to see rope drop solo..if youve never seen it..and it means something to you..it would be a shame to missit. Let the DF sleep...you can hop the monorail or bus back to your resort and get him after the festivities

I've seen it :) I told him I'm happy to go alone to morning EMH, but he's determined that we be glued to each other since it's our honeymoon. But after telling him that he's been laughed at on "my forum" he's decided to get up early :P

Like it or not, the early bird gets the worm.

But there is nothing that says you have to ride all the most popular rides or ride as much as humanly possible. If you would rather sleep in, do that! It is your vacation and you should enjoy it!!!

Definitely rope drop, or better yet, early EMH.

If you want to sleep late and relax, honeymoon in the Caribbean. If you want to have non-stop fun, go to Disney, but do NOT plan on sleeping late! LOL. Especially if you're going during peak holiday week and have any desire to do anything besides wait on lines!

Oh, and just because evening EMHs are until 1am doesn't mean you have to stay for all of those hours. Stay for some of the time, catch a few zzzzs, and be ready for rope drop the next day. :D

My youngest is the only one that will get up with me for the rope drop!! We do it once, maybe twice per trip. Once we rode EE 5-6 times in a row with no wait!! It is way less crowded than EME's, but we prefer to sleep in and stay late. Just sayin.....
