Ok this is inspired by Hatters future planned massive 14 Day TS food coma...er..Trip the Magic Kingdom..and Wendy Sues response that is the title of said thread!

Disclaimer: Im a huge Deluxe Dinning plan guy....

Ive seen folks comment on "How long it takes to eat sit down meals" and how it takes so much time from the parks..hence the thread title.

I dissagree, at least for my family we enjoy planning the trip and really enjoy sitting down together and eating good food and relaying the days events..for us at least its a nice break in the day to get good food and recharge the batteries so to speak. When at WDW for a week and planning th etrip months in advance I know which parks Im going to be at which days..and I plan my sit downs and signature meals alongside those parks..so leaving EPCOT to eat at the Yachtsman Steakouse or any of the Signatures at the Boardwalk area takes minutes to walk too...Im not going to try and leave to DTD to eat or head to a different park..we also generally schedule our park visits with the EMH schedule..so we have time to get all the things in we want.

I could do fast food for an entire week but would my body wouldnt like it very much..

I find it fairly easy to plan meals around the venues Im going to be in..with little trouble

We enjoy the break as well. We always talk about the day so far and relax for an hour. We also normally go to a restaurant in or very close to the park we are in. We are also normally in the park from Very early (sometimes RD) and leave after the fireworks (9-10 pm) so we need to get off our feet.

i can see how some people may not want to take that long of a break but for us it would drive me crazy to leave and go back to the room for an afternoon break. i think it is all about your vacation style!

I do wish there was a plan in between the dining and deluxe plan though. I need a couple extra TS credits each time!

For my family, the normal day-to-day world doesn't usually include "sit-down restaurants" so going TS while at WDW is part of our vacation and part of the fun. It's an unusual thing for us to sit down, order from a menu and be served so we take in as much as we can while on property and build our days around our food plans. I've seen folks say before that it takes up a lot of time but in the grand scheme it really doesn't. Breakfast for us is before the parks open so no time lost there. We never use a TS credit for lunch and dinner is usually when we'd take a break anyway and either go back to the resort or take a seat and people watch. Even more to the point, when we do character meals, that's part of the magic to me... not taking time away from it. :D

We had free QS plan this year but done 3 adrs.T-Rex at Downtown,Via Napoli, and Cali Grill. All were easy to plan and be at that place in plenty of time.To be honest,we spent maybe just 90 mins at each restaurant but yes,I would end up planning around my adrs.If Mr Crush can do it for 22 nights, then 14 should be a doddle.;)

One sit-down meal a day isn't so bad. I think it pushes the envelope when you do more than one. That's too much time, to me.

The title of this thread really grabbed my attention because when Tracey & I were on our recent Dream cruise we tried dinner at Remy. Eating there is akin to eating at Victoria & Alberts. It's a dining experience as much as it's a meal. It took 3 1/2 hours. I'm glad we did it once but my biggest issue after the fact was the amount of time it took. While there it wasn't a problem. I didn't feel like it took as long as it did. But after I definitely felt like as good as the meal was I didn't want to spend that long on food again.

So for me there is a point where it's too much time to eat. ;)

We really enjoy our meals while on vacation. I do try and plan our park visits around our dining experiences. Yes, you heard me correct...we make our dining reservations and then plan our park attack. Sitting down in a nice establishment with some really great food, drink and great company, what's not to like. It's our time to slow down and soak in what we did during the day and plan our night time adventure.

We like one "nice" meal a day when on vacation, at home what with work, sports and business too many meals are rushed or don't include everyone. I stated in another thread however we overdid the ADRs during past trips and spent far too much time eating.

I like the break to sit in the AC, regroup, etc...
And it's a break from the fast food.

But on our upcoming trip we will only be in the park for 3 days - I don't know if we'll do any sit down dinners except maybe Be Our Guest just to try it out.

Some of the QS food in WDW is ok, but none of it is fabulous. I am on vacation and I want to eat good food. I prefer the atmosphere of a nice restaurant, I love having some air conditioning and it gives my feet a break. I eat more TS on a longer vacation because I have time to spare. 2 TS a day on a 9 day trip doesn't take that much time away from the parks.

All of this comes down to you and your individual preferences. I think the meals enhance the vaycay. I just don't see it as missing out on park time...never will. It's an extension of that and merely upgrades the trip. We do this for all of our trips. I'm not saying every meal is fancy, but sitting down inside and being served lets us relax a bit before starting up again. I actually prefer 2 ts meals a day. I also think taking this approach and changing things up each trip also keeps the whole trip from feeling like the same old thing.

You've hit the nail on the head Sue. First Adrs, then the park attack.Getting your favourite restaurants is the first thing on our agenda.Getting to the parks is no problem when your onsite.:)

For some people, eating is a big part of their vacation. They look forward to the experience/meal at WCC as much as someone else might yearn to ride ToT.

Different strokes. :)

Ditto. I simply plan my meals/days to work together. I love sitting and having a real meal...it forces us to stop and relax. We usually do one 2 credit meal so we have one day with no ADR....other than that we eat a sit down every day!

For a slightly different version of the same overall response on this thread, I need a table service meal for lunch or dinner just to get a break from the chaos. I think if we went a full day in a single park, eating all quick or counter service options, without at the very least popping into a nearby resort lounge for a bite and a drink at some point, I might end up in a padded room. I quite enjoy my decompression time.

We have one day on our upcoming trip where we have a sit-down meal planned for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now, that might be a bit much, but I think I'm up to the challenge.

Dining is our final Disney frontier! We have done all the rides and the food joints are about all that is left that we haven’t tried. We look forward to that ressie we have never experienced! It is relaxing to take a load off and be served a la Disney style!
