Ok Folks. When the big 180 day comes round and it's time to book your ADRS,has anyone booked 14 for their vacation.Having always been QS but for our next visit it will be,all going well,TS meals. This year I booked 3 over the phone as the system was down on our 180 day.Just wondering if there's a plan of action out there.? And if you haven't done a 14 ADR,how would you go about it.Any ideas please.:)

Are you saying that you are booking 14 ADRs or that you are booking for 14 days?

I have booked tons of ADRs for previous trips as I don't care for CS much. My strategy is to book the hardest to get/most popular ones first. Then I just book the ones for each day. I do them online.

I have booked 3 meals a day for an 8 day trip a couple of time but we found that it effected our touring as we always had to be somewhere to eat. Now we plan our must dine favorites places Kona and Grand Flordian Cafe for breakfast, California Grill last night before going home and usually a combination of lunch and dinners for the rest of the time leaving some meals open for QS, room service or off property, you can take a cab to some great restaurants in Orlando.

I think the most we've booked was 6 or 7 (one TS per day of stay) but that, as it implies, is really dependent on how long your trip is. If we're there for 3 days we certainly aren't going to have 14 ADRs. Don't get me wrong, that'd be lovely, but expensive, and we'd have no time to do anything but eat (again I know the question here is 'what's wrong with that?' LOL).

I book a ton each trip. Once I know where I want to eat and when... I rank them. Example: a well timed dinner at 'Ohana is harder to get than a well timed meal at Cali Grill. Then I just book 1 by 1 in order. I may double back if not all slots appear to be loaded initially. I think 16 is the most I've done. Granted I love to change plans over the six months too.

We're going for 11 days in a couple of weeks and we have ten booked. There's a chance we'll pick up one or two more while we're there, just playing it by ear. If it weren't for the Food & Wine Festival, we'd probably have a few more reservations for lunches.

Are they all necessary? Probably not, but we do it anyway. It's a sick compulsion, really.

try to plan out your trip with wich parks you plan on attending. youu don't want dinner at Cinderellas Castle on a day that your at Epcot unless you go with hopper passes. Here's mine Dec 20 Whispering Canyon , Dec 21 Prime Time Cafe' Dec 23 Crystal Palace, Dec 24 Cinderellas Royal Table, Dec 25 Ohana Dec 26 Tusker House Breakfast, Dec 27 Teppan Edo (Japan Pavillion), Dec 29 Mickey's Backyard BBQ, Dec 30 Boma, Dec 31 Mama Melrose (Fantasmic seating meal), Jan 1 Chef Mickeys, Jan 2 Be Our Guest to round out our trip. Lunches are whatever sounds good at the section of the parks we are at. Breakfast is either resort or something quick at the park. Meals at resort locations are on days that we plan water park or non park heavy activites. Yes Dec 25 Christmas Day is Magical at Blizzard Beach. Very few people think of spending the day there so the lines are pretty short. The snow theming is cool at Christmas too. Very relaxing and peaceful.

With that many ADRs you will spend ALOT of your time travelling to your meal site and then you'll still have to wait. That's why I'm considering going quick service on the next trip and maybe having one or two sit downs. With ADRs you have to either plan your day to be somewhere near the eatery or drop what you're doing and haul you know what to get there. Then when you do arrive with that res you made 6 months ago they'll hand you a beeper like you just walked up to your local Outback.

WOW Hatter that is an extreme amount of food. I have never really made too many ADRS. Usually if we are spending a few days to a week at WDW i will have a table service for dinner. I will book the must do places.
The rest of the time we fly by the seat of our pants. Since we drive over we also have access to some of the other great restaurants in the Kissimmee/Oralndo area.

Yes, you must have a plan! :)

So you know the hot spots - if you want CRT, Le Cellier, Rose and Crown for Illuminations, Chef Mickey, etc - book those first. You have to also have an idea of which parks you want to go to on which dates. I suggest to use touring plans for this as the times for the parks and EMH's are released at the 180 day mark too. So get an idea of what dates will be EMH and best parks based on Touring Plans. Once you know what park you want to go to on each date and you have an idea of where you want to eat, rank them in order of what is most important and hardest to get and book those first. After you get those sorted out, then fill in the rest.

With the regular dining plan, as you know, you get the resort mug, the snack, the QS and TS each day. Some people feel trapped with having to run to the ADR's but if you plan ahead, and make a plan for where you want to be on each date, the ADR's just flow easily and there isn't that running around feeling. Also, make sure to have a couple signature experiences. This also frees up some dates to use those QS credits and have some free days where there are no ADR's.

Super structures are my specialty!
I have made that many ADR's. As mentioned above, it helps to have the bigger picture before your 180 day mark. i make a list of restaraunts, print out the park hours, consult with my wife, and then do almost everything at one sitting on-line. I make my Fantasmic packages and made my Candlelight Processional package via phone just to make sure everything is just right. We don't always do park hopper so if it is a restaraunt in a park we need to know what park we are hitting that day. I have cancelled a couple while we are there and made a couple while we were there as a result of that cancellation but for the most part it's all mapped out and locked in well ahead of time. Single best advice i can give is some you probably don't need. Consult with the other half throughout :D My wife trusts me to plan the whole vacation start to finish but she likes things run by her from time to time. Especially if we are trying something new.

Once when the Dining plan was first introduce and twice for 14 nights on Deluxe Dining Plan! I have a formulated Excel Spreadsheets I use to keep track of reservations, planing, meal/credit and snack usage, EMH, opening and closing, parade and firework times. I already have a one for Oct 13 (estimated of course). Once complete I even shrink it to pocket size. I know my poor DH and DS but I'm a planner and for that many ADR's and the best us of travelling time that is why the Crescent Lake Resorts are best for us. For me I love the planning and my Holiday starts there! TTFN Jo

I've never done more than two a day. Even two is a lot of food, lol.

But I used to schedule two sit-downs almost every day, so that would be over fourteen. I just pick the places I like and try to get input from others on where they want to go. It is so much easier when other people make decisions. I don't have to feel the pressure of trying to do things they'll like. But everyone always says they don't care, lol.

Just to clarify. Our vacation will be 14 days & nights and if we end up at a deluxe and the free dining is still on,which it is for 2013,then I will be booking 14 adrs for TS meals. The QS will be no problem.;)
One year, we made the mistake of getting the Deluxe Dining Plan, and NOT including Sigs (2 TS credits) in our plans. We had exactly 14 TS (2 per day) meals and a boatload of credits left at the end (at that time the resort would let you trade unused credits for snacks).

Now we get the DP (standard 1 TS, 1 QS, 1 snack per day). I would suggest the 1 TS a day, but never a TS dinner followed by a TS breakfast the next morning. The only advice I would offer would be to check the park hours and find out which parks have the extra-magic hours. Plan your ressies around that!
