It stems from unhappy incidents during childhood over 40 years ago. We do not do Halloween at our house and there will never be a jack-0-lantern on our porch. It is a personal choice and I don't have anything against those who do participate, except for adults that take the whole thing overboard and forget it is for children.
We will be down in a few weeks and typically skip Magic Kingdom during the fall just to avoid decorations or references to anything "not so scary."
Will never, ever attend MNSSHP.
How much is Macic Kingdom decorated for the party during non party days?
The last time we tried it a few years ago the large Mickey in the landscaping in front of the train station was made of pumpkins and Halloween stuff, we just looked at each other, shrugged, double checked it was a non- party day, then hopped on the monorail to spend the day at Epcot.
We have done some week long trips in the fall without visiting Magic Kingdom, but would kinda like to go this year if there is only minimal Halloween references during the day on non-party days. What do you think?
No, lighten up, go with the flow, grow up and have a good time anyway responses will not help. 50 years of therapy has not helped!
If you have seen the daytime decorations at Magic Kingdom on non MNSSHP days, now knowing my adversion to Halloween, what do you think-go or no go?

The Majority of Halloween items are mostly on Main Street...Once you get to the hub and the other lands..Everything is back to Normal..

They only Halloween-ize the other lands during MNSSHP with some trick or treat stations and some minor props and neat lighting, plus rare and common characters...But they aren't there during the days or nights when it's not going on.

Hope this helps..

Actually there are assorted decorations inside the plaza in front of the train station that may offend you, but once you get past that it's pretty tame. You're probably better off skipping the MK if these type of things bother you.

Gotta disagree. Trick-or-treating is for kids, but the holiday is fun for all ages. More popular than Christmas in our house, and not a kid to be found.

I have to ask....Does the mere presence of Halloween decor make the MK off limits? Seeing pumpkins would seriously ruin a day in the park?
No offense intended, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it.

Yes, if there is much Halloween decor present we would rather simply go to another park, which is what we have done in the past. Seeing pumpkins would not ruin a day in the park, heck, it's the happiest place on Earth after all. I'm not that flawed yet, but do feel I would be happier at AK, or Epcot and just go back to MK during another season.

Thank you Nemo14 for these photos. This helps a lot. Nothing wrong with these decorations, to me they just distract from why we come to MK. Maybe we will skip MK again and come back in the spring.

That really is about as "scary" as it gets, but if you get past that, the rest of the park is pretty tame.

It seems your question has been answered, but for general reference there are photos at the wdwmagic main site of the Halloween decorations for anyone else who may be interested.

In years past, there were some additional decorations which included little statues of the Disney characters dressed in Halloween costumes, located in the hub around Cinderella's castle, and I remember a large blow up of Stitch at the entrance to Tomorrowland, which may or may not have only been on display during the party.

Thanks, I'll check out more photos as well.

During normal Magic Kingdom hours this is about as decorated as the park will get. It's pretty minimal in my opinion. However, there may be pumpkins and references to Halloween throughout the park, especially concentrated in the Main Street area. If you have a strong aversion to Halloween you might enjoy the other parks better this time of year.

Thanks for the very informative reply and link.
