Better Resort Breakfast

I am going back and forth on the last ADR of our upcoming trip. I am down to Kona Cafe or Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast. I have never eaten at either. The leader in the club house is Kona. In my mind I order the Big Kahuna, get my wife to order the Tonga Toast, and one of my kids ( 8,5, and 8 months) to order the wasabi mary and I sample the best of Kona.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

thanks

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I've never been to GFC, but Kona is a big must for us every trip.
Big Kahuna + Tonga Toast + Macadamia Nut Pancakes + French press pot = sheer perfection.
Please be sure to let us know which you end up choosing.

I've only had GF Cafe for lunch and it was good, but the Kona breakfast is strong. I doubt GF is better, maybe as good, but not better.

But to throw a total monkey wrench in the debate, have to considered 1900 Park Fare in the GF? It is a very different experience, but just as good as Kona.

I think I would go foir Kona, my reasoning being their offerings are more specialised. GFC, whilst good, is more standard fayre. I'm sure either would be excellent.

We have'n't been to Kona for a couple of years but remember the breakfast and it is more adventurous than GF, the one thing about the GFC is that it's nice and quiet, which is why we loved it back last November, food was very good, service great, basic stuff but served in a beautiful atmosphere, Kona is more noisy but oh man they have Tonga Toast and that great waterfall in the lobby, see now I can't decide where to eat next!!!

My personal taste is Kona but both have very good offerings and in the end it will come down to personal taste. What keeps me coming back to Kona are the pineapple/macadamia pancakes and the Kona press pot. However, the Cirtus pancakes and Grand press pot at the GF are very good as well. Take a look at both menus and see which one tickles your fancy more. If you still can't decide, flip a coin and go where fate decides.

I would go for Kona. We ate there a couple of years ago for breakfast and loved it. The French press pot of coffee was awesome. It was so good in fact, we are having breakfast again there this year when we go to WDW.

Definately Kona for breakfast.... our first meal of every trip. We do the same as you, one of us order the Big Kahuna, another the Tonga Toast and yet another, the ham and cheese omelette, followed by a Wasabi Mary and all sample across the table. They really cut back on the size of the Macadamia Nut Pancakes on the Big Kahuna, but still its ALOT of food. Grand Floridian Cafe is best for lunch (the Grand Floridian Burger is outstanding) Nothing is better than starting your day in a Tropical paradise with terrific food. Enjoy!

I looked at 1900 but the day I was looking at was not available. Something else to put on my "next trip" list.

I love Kona's breakfast. The wasabi bloody mary is so tasty. The tonga toast and macadamia pineapple pancakes are both fantastic. Lillikoi juice is also great times.
