The Great Paper Napkin Watch

I just spent a few days at WDW and was surprised that all locations I visited were using generic "bought them at Costco" napkins. I understand this was first reported a few weeks ago but the hope at that time was that this was temporary, perhaps a supplier problem. Now that I've seen these at multiple parks, restaurants, and resorts I fear this is permanent. Has anyone recently seen the "old" Disney theme park napkins at any locations?

To be proactive, I accept that some don't think this is a big deal. It's a reasonable opinion. IMHO, it is a big deal when a multi billion dollar corporation that claims to be a premium entertainment destination wants to charge me $90 per day for admission, $300 per night for a resort room, and $50 for a meal but doesn't match something that's provided at a fast food chain.

DW and I miss the location-specific napkins we used to get when dining at WDW in the 1990s. We always loved these little touches that made WDW feel so special and set itself a step above the rest. We enjoy WDW and will continue to go but, come on, is WDW really getting this petty?

Still hoping this is temporary.

I don't think they're coming back.

I think Disney is cutting corners everywhere and doing everything they can to save money. I understand that...but I do miss the cool napkins.

Personally, I really don't care if people thing complaining about napkins is silly. As the OP said, for a place that has built it's reputation on being better than the rest, I find this corner cutting to be extremely cheap. The whole Disney Parks thing is bad enough. This is just pathetic. That entire place was mobbed to the 10th degree a few weeks back and people were spending money hand over fist. I'm sorry, but you can't do one thing for so long, then cheapen out, change things, and not expect anyone to notice how cheap you are being.

And to answer the OP's question, yes, Disney is getting this petty. However the correct word would be cheap.

We need time for things to happen.
i always thought this was a cool touch, but im sure you can ask and multiple people would go and take handfuls and use them at home for everyday use, which would be my guess why they would stop this.
This.

...And as far as this coming back?? You can kiss it good bye.
In a corporate America setting --- Whenever something like this is "taken away" . It will NEVER come back.

They take something away...see a profit....no one pickets, sets fire to the place and
even better they keep coming by the millions:

"Hmm...that worked - where else can we cut corners"

I will be upset with Disneys napkins when they cease to remove stuff from my face.
Well, in all truthfulness, printing or no, the post consumer content ones don't do such a great job at that-causing you to use two where one would do. Maybe one of these genius MBAs should look at that...

Will you be upset when Disney paper cups are done away with in favor of plain old Dixie cups? How about just plain white paper plates? It may not seem like much, but little by little, all the Disney touches will be gone if we take the "I don't care" attitude.
