Thinking about all the technology used in the parks today, I wonder what the most expensive piece of equipment is for an attraction/show in the parks?

Is it the dome for Spaceship Earth? The technology used for Turtle Talk with Crush? WHAT?

Any ideas?

Nope....it's the machine that counts the money at the end of the day. Not only the most expensive, it is also the most indispensable.

Labor. WDW is the largest single site employer in the U.S. The equipment is a fixed cost that depreciates over time.

Agree, their payroll is crazy I'm sure. Disney does not pay a very high hourly rate, but thousands of employees adds up.

The awesome aquarium they have for the Nemo ride? I imagine it takes a lot to keep the animals healthy and cared for and the right people to keep that dolphin healthy!

Im sure it's another ride, buuuut, its the first one I thought of...lol

Most likely it's the cryogenic chamber that preserves Walt's body. They were forced to move the body to WDW after rather serious urban decay began to set in at Anaheim during the late 1970's. The recent riots in Anaheim are a stark reminder of that problem plagued city. Since the initial move, they've refurbished the chamber five times adding more and more safeguards and redundancy to make sure they don't have an accidental thaw.

The expense of maintaining the system is astronomical.
