We're all freaks. That's why we're the only ones that "get it"!
Must be a "mom" thing!Hahahahaha my Mom used to do that!
Must be a "mom" thing!
Me either. I get too excited talking about it. Also, half the fun was having the kids in on the planning. When they were younger I had a notebook I decorated with Disney stickers and I would show them the confirmations, maps, plans, etc. They didn't always get all the details, but, they understood that notebook meant a great time later.lol too funny. I honestly don't know if I will ever be able to hide a trip to Disney from anyone. I get way to excited. That's a great episode too.
My son Brendan found a Disney episode of Unwrapped (Food Network) of all the goodies and treats they have there. We're surprising the kids with the trip this year (30 days tomorrow! EEEK) And all I wanted to say was "OMGosh, we can get that....and that....and oooooooo that looks delicious"...haha
30 DAYS!!!!!
(I'm not at all excited)

You seem so sweet. I am excited for you as your trip approaches. What treats did they feature on that show? Awww thank you <3
They showed an AWESOME place in DTD called "Goofys Candy Co", shortbread cookies covering the top part in chocolate and then a Mickey face (which, shockingly, they make at the park)! The infamous Mickey ice cream bars, the neat things Miyuki makes (candy sculpture), some AMAZING cakes that you can order!
Do you have a list of things you are excited to try? I really want to try one of the shortbread cookies and their candy apples!
How are you going to tell the kids that you are going to WDW? We haven't worked out all the kinks yet! At first we were going to involve my inlaws (they're coming with us), but now, since my husband has to work 1/2 a day before we go, I think we're going to take them to a nice lunch and have the waitress help us reveal it! My husband can bring a batch of balloons for the waitress to bring out with index cards tied to the end, that Brendan can read to his brothers. But we haven't figured out quite yet how!
You should film yourselves telling them and put it on YouTube and send a link to Disney PR (Jennifer Fickley-Baker and others at the Disney Parks Blog would be a great place to start). They LOVE seeing things like that if the kids give a very excited, natural reaction. We're DEFINITELY going to record it! My parents are in on the secret and have such a hard time not telling them, they want to see their reactions! haha
Keep us posted!
We surprised our 2 youngest kids with a WDW trip a few years ago.
We told our oldest because we knew that he would figure it out (he never told).
When we got to the WDW property, my 2 youngest said things like...
"Why are there Mickey's everywhere?"
"Why does that bus say Magic Kingdom?"
I don't think they believed it until we actually went to a park.
You are not a freak...there are tons of people just like us who love WDW.
Although I do have to watch myself when I talk to friends & family...I tend to talk about it too much...that's why I love this site...you can talk about it as much as you want!
OOOOOH Yes! We can't buy anything with his name on it, because it's not THAT common and YES, we get "Brandon" a lot. His Kinder teacher spent 1/2 the year calling him Brandon!!My son's name is Brendan too- spelled that way (St. Brendan-Irish). it's hard to find things w/ the name spelled that way, and many people call him "Brandon". Enjoy your trip, from a fellow Disney "freak" going in 50 days and counting...![]()

I love the lunch idea. I'm guessing the kids are young enough to not be in any kind of school or anything. I don't know if I understand your plan exactly, but it sounds like you aren't going to tell them until the day you are going to Florida (having lunch and going to the airport from there, I assume) since your husband is working half a day that day.
I don't think I ever gave my kids a surprise as cool as that, where they think they are just going to lunch and have no idea that bags are packed for them and that they are going to WDW that very same day.
That would be the most awesome surprise EVER.
I am so excited for you and your family for this trip!!!
We do K12 (public school) at home! Brendan has pretty severe asthma that has sent him to the hospital several times, so we now keep him at home where I can monitor his asthma better then his teachers/school staff seemed to be able to do. (Amazing school district and teachers, just overwhelmed with kiddos and asthma complications can be hard to see until he's in a full blown attack. He was born at 32 weeks and has lasting lung problems because of it). They'll have JUST started school that week, but our resort has Wi-Fi, so afternoons at the resort can be spent logging in attendance!
We'll be headed to the hotel in Denver straight from there and flying out in the morning! Brendan will know right away if we go to the hotel and he see's grandma Carolyn! haha He's way to smart for his own good and I want to see this little boys face light up in shock and excitement!![]()
