So would you assume then that all the towels are there for the taking?

What if they didn't make an animal for you that day...can I still take the towel home?

No. But I can take the ones home that are tiny animals with googly eyes and pipe cleaner antennas that they specifically said I could take home. I would never take something without asking.

I guess we had lousy Mouse Keeping the last time I went. We stayed at POFQ and left $4 a day for 2 people for the first 3 days and every day we had less and less towels (none made up like animals like I hear about) and one day our room was not made at all, and amazingly the money was gone. Then we stopped tipping and left nothing on our final day which is the day which I normally tip bigger. Mouse Keeping was very disappointing. :(

Ok, our family must be thick as bricks! Cuz tipping daily mousekeeping is completely new to me. And I know alot of people who aren't familiar with doing this. Our friends & family have been going for over 25 yrs & have never left a daily mousekeeping tip. We have almost always gotten towel animals, but we did not know we were allowed to take them. I guess now we know. I wonder what they've thought of us all these years?

That should have been reported to the front desk.

I tip $4-5 a day PER room ( we always have 2)... I do not do any cleaning on vacation. I don't make anything aside from our personal belongings neat. One of the major perks about vacation is no cleaning and I make sure the Mousekeepers know I appreciate that they do this for me! My mother ( who has a room with my oldest) always leaves her room neat. So out of the 2 rroms one is neat as a pin and one is a mess.. $5 per room...lol

We leave about $5/day. Also the year we took our grandchild there was no way we could use those animal washclothes or leave them. It wouldn't have been a pretty scene. I think on Christmas day we left $10 with a Merry Christmas note.

We leave 3 dollars a day. I make up all the envelopes before I leave home so I make sure I have it. :) We've had several towels animals. I've left them all except one that they made for my daughter. I'm not sure what it is but it had ribbons, barrettes and stick on eyes. It was cute and she made sure we knew we could take it.

We never tip housekeeping.

It's not a tipped position and I don't tip blindly. The person who may take your money may not be the one who serviced you prior and I don't tip before you get service

ok so couple dollars a day it is then. And I shall ask every Disney employee I come across before I "steal" a towel animal if we are lucky enough to get one!

I didn't realize people tipped either--we paid for the room with housekeeping included. We have always received wash cloth animals.

rrr ok its about what i was thinking thanks! so other than mousekeeping who else do you tip? I know waiter/waitress but other than that? and yes i am thick!

We're in the "$1/person/day" boat (there are 2 of us, so we leave $2 per day). If we have the cash on us, we'll also tip the Magical Express driver and whoever brings our luggage to our room, if we happen to be there when it arrives. And we don't take the towel animals home with us, just take pictures. :)

I have been going to Disney every summer since 2005 and have only received towel animals once. Every day my daughters would come into the room looking for them and they are never there. We always see them in the windows of the other rooms around the resort, so my girls know that they exist. I had to tell them that those people paid extra for that, which made them feel a little better. I have stayed at values and moderates, and I think the only time we got them was in 2007 at POP.
I do tip, so it wasn't that I wasn't leaving a tip for them so they were ed or something. I hope next week when we get there we have some towel animals for my kids. I think it would make them feel a little better.
I tip $5, I don't clean on vacation, so I really appreciate the room being tidied up when I get back in the afternoon. My mother also has a home cleaning business and I know how difficult and sometimes disgusting her job can be. I guess that is why I feel the need to tip mousekeeping.
