Booking ADRs for Christmas trip

Our Christmas trip isn't until next year (one year from right now, in fact) so I know this is early, but I have to post questions as I think of them. We are also going in April, so it won't be too long after we get back that it will be our 180 day mark to book ADRs for our November 2012 trip.

We are only going for 4 days, just long enough to take in all the Christmas sights/activities. I have never been at Christmas before, but I know from my reading and whatnot that at least at one time, they had Candelight Processional Dinner packages, set at Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3. Is that still how they do it? And if so, am I correct to assume that I would not be able to book such a package until later in the year when the Candelight Processional is finalized, as opposed to the usual 180 day mark which for me, would be sometime in May? Is it cheaper to book a dinner package, as opposed to simply booking the Candelight Processional by itself and booking supper by itself?

In my experience the candlelight dinner packages only ensure you a spot in the reserved seating. You will still need to stand in line to get your seats. You'll need to begin your ADR 180 days out for this to ensure you get the day and show time you want to attend. We did the ADR dance for about 3 solid months to get the combination we wanted, 5pm show with Biergarten for late lunch. Its a fixed price per person (without alcohol) so get the food you enjoy.

We just got back from the world Saturday staying at the Grand Floridian last week. 5PM performance of the Candlelight Processional with Mira Sorvino narrating. 4th row center stage (the row that sticks out).

Its great this year, last year it was wet and miserably cold, with too many sopranos. This year very well balanced.

I'm hoping to go in December 2012 as well. I only WISH I was also going to be there 6 months from now! Considering we haven't been there since March 2011, December 2012 feels like a LONG way off.

But they don't have the Candelight Processional schedule that far out, do they? I was under the impression that they don't release the schedule for Christmas events until September or October. So, if I am correct, then the problem is that, in May (when our 180 day mark hits), I won't be able to book my Candelight Processional Package because the CP shedule won't be available yet. And even though I can book restaraunt ADRs 180 days out, I won't know which day to book it for if I want to coincide it with the CP, since I won't have any way of knowing yet what days and times the CP will be. And if I wait until September or October (when the schedule is released), then I run the risk that the restaraunt will be booked up by then. Or do they reserve a certain amount of ADR slots for each participating restaraunt for people who will want to book that restaraunt in the CP dinner package? Or is my assumption wrong altogether and they release the CP schedule alot earlier than I thought?

Yeah, you will have to wait until they are released before you can book the Processional Package. I am pretty sure that they do have a block of reserved tables so if you make a point of calling as soon as they release the packages you should be fine. If a very popular speaker is scheduled that day, the package may sell out quickly. I would pick a couple of restaurants you are interested in just in case.

Also, the CP usually runs twice per day so you shouldn't have to worry that it won't be running the day you visit the park. They also do a lunch and dinner package so that gives you more options.

I am going to be there for this Christmas, and I had no problem booking a lunch seating Processional Package last week. That's only 3 weeks in advance. If you don't mind going for lunch, I would guess that you will also not have any problems.
