Interesting Youtube Video Concerning New Rides

I found this on youtube and was genuinely shocked that disney would have press released all of these "future" attractions, when in actuality only a few of them were ever built... They usually never release any sort of information about attractions until they are pretty much 100% sure they are going to build it.
The part starts at about 3:00

wow! thats pretty crazy! the one that upsets me the most is the Space Pavillion and the Toon Town Ride. I guess you could say they have that ride in DL, but it looked like it would have been way more fun!!

That is nothing compared to the special with Harry Anderson where some of the attractions never saw the light of day, and some of the ones that did ended up on the other coast.

COMPLETE WITH BACK TO THE FUTURE SCORE, THEMATICS AND A KNOCK OFF OF THE SONG BACK IN TIME.

I think its a sign of the times. Thre was no internet to launch a big hype very quickly at the time. TV was the main source of that and once they were pretty sure they had to get an early jump on it. That and there was more funding back then.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iLYTeA6EUs&feature=related This last part here is where the stuff that never happened or happened in completely different ways starts.

Another similar situation would be the Dateline Disney promo of the early Disney Channel era that actually talked about Mt. Fuji and The Great Muppets Ride.

At 4:35 in the video they show an Imagineer at work, is that Joe Rohde? The designs being worked on appear to be Animal Kingdom.

As far as spilling the beans on drawing board projects that didn't end up actually happening, I think Disney used to be a little more free talking about projects they thought would happen, without as much fear over what happened if they didn't.

The "wait until its halfway finished before announcing" method seems to be new, or at least just getting used a little more in recent years. Things happen that get projects delayed or even canceled, and they always have, but it is possible the massive amount of scrutiny big companies are under in the internet age may have made them a little more shy about giving too many details too quickly. Or they just don't want to give their competitors too much advance warning about the "next big thing."

Disney has released details of rides, resorts and attractions that were never made. It adds to the hype, they aren't apple.

wow i love the disney vid with the back to the future music! Disney doesnt make special programs for their parks anymore, i mean does the disney channel even mention anything about the parks nowadays? I'm an 80s baby, born in 85, grew up when these kinds of shows would play on the disney channel and they were seriously the highlight of my day whenever they came on, those old disney world programs are what have made me a life-long fan today.. I really wish they would show things like this on the disney channel again, sadly we all know that aint happening, they need to show hannah montana and the suite life over and over again all day because today's youth is only interested in these fake tween sitcoms. Sigh, seeing videos like that make me sad, thank god for youtube!

is the epitome of the disney channel of my youth, makes me so happy inside just hearing the music

Well the wonderful world of disney ended in 2008, disney does have some promo videos it made that are on netflix instant view. Also the modern marvels and unwrapped episodes were just promos for wdw.

The point of the promos we grew up with (dob 1982) was to tell us about what was being done at wdw and to inform the parents that staying on property is an option for almost any family.

Just by going to disney.com/parks, they have new promo ads that would bore most of us that have more than 100 posts.

Interesting...You can see Joe just starting his weirdness while drawing with his horrible Jagr (Mullet) and bracelet.

yea but the promos they make today are nothing like the ones they made back then, you look at some of the promos made back in the 80s and 90s and they werent just promos, but they were like magical shows, there was more charm more to them than the promos we have today. The promos that are made today are just that - promotions, they try to be too hip, to "edgy" I dont know, its hard to explain but the wdw specials that they used to make just seem better to me.

Ah the good old Disney Deacde. Where CEO's did not care about spending money on attractions. It was all about build build build. Boy do i miss the 90's. The best years for Disney hands down.
