Epcot's new 9am to 9pm Future World hours have not changed attraction hours

Why would they change the hours then?

Probably to eliminate guest confusion. When the map indicates that FW closes at 7pm it is confusing because most logical people would think the entire FW and all attractions will be closed at 7pm. Now they can say FW closes at 9 except the following attractions.

On a side note, I am extremely disapointed because I was very excited about the original anouncement.

Really there was no announcement, it was just a quiet change. Easier to say we're open till 9, but this half closes... before it was we close at 7, but this half is open till 9... Esp when it was EMH night and most was open till 9... my brain hurts just thinking about it.

I called this one from about 50 miles away. I never thought for a minute that they would keep these attractions open with the amount of people that would still visit them for those extra two hours. This helps alleviate confusion about park closing times and I am sure somewhere there are other savings for them.

My kids always hoped that they would close future world while we were in World Showcase and make us stay in the park overnight.

This could be made to work long term IMO. Bring back the aesthetics of the original FW with great lighting, water features and music. Then it would be a great place to spend time at night. Keep a few attractions open such as SSE, Innoventions, and The Seas. Not enough to draw big crowds. Add some nice refreshment options and I think it would be a great place to relax and spend time away from the crowds.

Its all about the marketing. Most insiders like us in the past see a FW hours closing at 7PM... but we know some of the popular attractions remain open until 9PM. Many first time visitors may not know that and could cause them to avoid the park if FW is supposedly closed at 7PM.

It just creates the appearance that everything is open until 9pm and makes sense.

Now that makes sense. They should at least inform guests of what attractions will be open during that period.

When it was posted on this site about a week ago that FW would remain open until 9 I misunderstood, and thought that meant all of the attractions would be open to 9 as well. I was excited about it and I was not the only one who misunderstood the info (see link below). It was just confusing because Disney has posted FW open from 9-7 for several years now, and all of the sudden deemed that it was too confusing for guest. Of course I read only the beginning of the thread and not the end.

 I think it came down to about half of future world remaining open till 9 now... and some tourists probably didn't realize that at all... thus letting the crowds be more dispersed
