There was a book I read called "Utopia" by Lincoln Child quite a few years back. Here's a description:
"Despite its remote location in the Nevada desert, the Utopia theme park receives 65,000 visitors daily. They never dream their lives may be in any real danger. However, some of the self-programming robots are becoming erratic, so park administrators quietly bring the robots' brilliant creator from the East Coast to fix the problem before it gets any worse. Dr. Andrew Warne brings his daughter, for he doesn't believe there is anything wrong with his creations. But on the day of their arrival, a mysterious band of ruthless criminals infiltrates not only the park, but its computerized systems. The unknown terrorists appear to control everything, from the simplest robot to the most dangerous ride. And if their demands aren't met, thousands of innocent park-goers will be killed. --Cynthia Ward --This text refers to the Hardcover edition." (From Amazon Reviews)
Anyways, when I read it, the theme park technologies and themes brought Disney to mind. It would be interesting if an action/suspense/thriller plot like this would center on the safe, family-friendly Magic Kingdom, but at the same time, it would be pretty awesome.
Ugh. This is exactly what I don't want to see. Teaming up established characters just sounds like a comic book crossover where everybody is competing for camera time. (The JC skipper might be OK, since that's more of an archetype.)It sounds like Disney is going to try to tie together a whole bunch of normally unrelated franchises into an Avengers style movie. Will we see Jack Sparrow teamed with Buzz Lightyear and a quirky Jungle Cruise Skipper? We'll see, but that's what it sounds like. As a film student, I am very much doubting this project will be very good if it ever sees the light of day. It might and I could be proven wrong, but I'm not sure how this is going to work.
As a WDW fan and MK CM, I am very interested in seeing what could be done to make this idea work. My attraction has to have some representation... Maybe Brier Rabbit can join the group...

I think attractions without established characters would be the best fit for this kind of project: HM, JC, Space Mt., BTMRR, pre-Jack Sparrow POTC. I almost wonder if the success of the POTC films haven't ruined it for any kind of use here, since everybody will expect any reference to include Johnny Depp in eyeliner.
I'll say this...if anyone actually makes this project and avoids all the pitfalls baked into the idea, he (or she) will be a filmmaking god.
That plot reminds me of a Simpsons episode when they went to Itchy & Scratchy Land.
Duff Beer --- Bear is just a few weeks away.
They were begging guests to sit through an inormational on Duff at DCA a few weeks ago. They had very little takers.
Separately from Magic Kingdom, Disney is filming...Tomorrowland and Jungle Cruise.
This throws comingsoon.net's credibility out the window:
Still, Variety has its facts straight. Hmm.
Please do NOT be Kingdom Keepers.
Could be fun.
I hope that if it does include Mickey or any of the other classic characters, they'd be animated in hand-drawn 2D Roger Rabbit style. I'm sure they'd be CG though. And I'm sure the whole thing will be in 3D.
It would be kinda neat if they name-dropped a few Imagineers somewhere. I doubt they'd have an actor portraying Walt (heaven forbid they resurrect him in CGI), but I hope that his "presence" would be felt somewhere in the movie.
I wonder if it would actually be set in The Magic Kingdom. I know the name of the movie is MK, but Disneyland seems like the more logical choice.
I just lost all respect for you...jk
Steve Carell is the anti-funny and Tina Fey is not funny either....Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen are much much better than them both
I'll agree with Carell being anti-funny, but Rogen and Sandler? Sandler is a shell of his former self and Rogen is the same loser character in every movie he's in.
Fey is a very funny lady.
Ah, so you've read those books?
I've read them. At least, I've TRIED to.So disappointing...

Have to agree about Fey. And, well, Sandler and Rogen too. And I'll toss in Jason Segal and raise you one Judd Apatow. They've ALL worn out their schtick IMO.
