Hi all,

We have been DVC members since 2005 and love it! However, we have been going to Disney World every year since and want to try some new vacations using our DVC points. I would love to hear some suggetions from all of you. My only problem is my husband is afraid to fly so any flight farther than 3 hours from Philly or Newark, NJ is out of the question and my 6 year old has motion sickness issues so a cruise is out. Someday I will go with some friends, but for now we are limited. My children are 6, 4, and 1. Any new and exciting ideas would be great!

I can not believe you dont want to goto WDW again!! I am just kidding.

We are in the exact same situation as you are. Kids are a little bit older at 5, 10, and 11 though. My 11yo has been to WDW 12 times. Only going to parks 2 days this year. We are thinking about going somewhere out west(no, not DL) next year but I have not checked things out yet. I am interested in what places others have tried as well.

We've just spent the better part of two weeks in the Washington, D.C. area, visiting all of the historic (and mostly free) museums, monuments and sites the region has to offer. We're thinking about a day trip down to Colonial Williamsburg (and maybe Busch Gardens as well). There's plenty for a family of all ages to enjoy in this area.

I would second Vero Beach!
Been Twice and would love to go again.

The only, well the MAIN, reason I suggested Hilton Head over Vero Beach is proximity, since SC is closer to the OP then southern Florida and the OP's husband doesn't like flying. Vero Beach is awesome too, though it's been much longer since I've been there. And of course, until the BP situation is settled, I don't know how much of a chance someone might want to take with their precious vacation time if the water might not be clean enough for swimming, so who knows if either resort would be worth the risk. Of course, you take a similar chance going to a beach resort just based on the weather, so take my sleep-deprived ramblings with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the ideas...keep them coming. I have many years and many trips to plan before my children don't want to vacation with mom and dad anymore. LOL! I tried to get Hilton Head, but it is almost impossible to get for the summer months and my soon to be 6 year old (Nov bday) will be starting KDG this september. So I would like to try to do different vacations for the summertime. I refuse to go to disney in the summer. I will take him out of school for disney in January. Too hot and crowded in the summer months and holidays. And I though about Vero Beach, but the BP oil spill is keeping me away from there at the moment.

We do like D.C. and Virginia though, are the hotels nice there and can we get a 2 bedroom like in a disney villa?

I'm sure there are vacation rentals in this area (VRBO.com is a good site for those). There are also a number of "extended-stay" hotels with multiple bedrooms that are convenient to mass transit and/or the local highways as well.

Try Ocean City Maryland since its a three hour ride for you, we're heading there in two weeks, rented thru VRBO mentioned above into the same complex you can trade your DVC points in via RCI. We found that after 5 months on a wait list for trading in RCI, it was easier to rent direclty and then we rented our DVC points, - interestlngly the tradein thru RCI was 275 points, and we rented out 150 at $10 each so we covered our stay and banked 125 points.

The only problem with those is they are in the RCI program and it is so hard to lock into a date. and since I live 45min from DC it is not location I like to use my points. The Williamsburg location we have been trying for months and no sucess.

I also want to say we LOVE Vero Beach.
