Coke vs Pepsi Questions

I was thinking about the arrangement that WDW has with the Coca Cola Company and wanted to ask a few questions.

1. Does anyone know how long the current agreement is for?

2. Do you think that Pepsi would ever try or even be able to obtain a partnership with WDW?

3. I thought I read somewhere that as part of the present agreement with Coke that WDW does not pay for the soda supplied to the resorts. Does this seem possible?

Thanks everyone.

I did a google search and found one press release from 1990 that said Coke and Disney signed a 50 year agreement then.

It also looked like Pepsi used to be a sponsor (at Disneyland?) many years ago.

if I can find more definite links I will post them, the ones I initially found required logins to the site.

The question has come up before about the whole "does Disney get the soda for free" before. It was catagorically denied by quite a few people on here that were supposed to be "in the know". They get a large discount, but it's not free.

Pepsi is lousy :hurl:

It really is and it gives me a headache. Coca Cola I would think would be the first choice because the company provides a variety of different kinds of drinks. Even if they lost the partnership it would probably be cheaper because of the big line they have.

I've drank coke/pepsi my whole life. Whatever was in my fridge was basically what was on sale that week. I personally like Pepsi better, but I like Coke's marketing. I recently just stopped drinking both (today is six weeks for me!) and it was REALLY difficult! It's going to be strange not getting coke at disney the next time I go!

Good for you, you will start to hate it. Drinking it only on ocashion and sometimes up to 2 weeks for a year. Used to drink it everyday and now it makes me feel lousy. I replaced it with other sugary drinks like gatorade, Vitamin Water and iced tea. Also not good to drink but anything except except for beer is better for your health than soda.

I think disney would lean towards coke as it has a larger international presense than pepsi does... anyone ever have a stange feeling that the fountain coke at WDW seems to taste different than fountain coke off property... I always had a feeling it did.

I'm with you on that one. Disney Coke tastes nothing like Coke. I've always blamed it on the fact Disney Coke is made with water from Pirates of the Caribbean.

I personally prefer pepsi over coke but in the grand scheme of things it really doesnt matter much. I would like Disney to start carrying cherry coke in the bottles around the parks. Me LOVES cherry coke!

Part of it depends on how well-maintained the fountain dispensers are, whether they're properly cleaned every night, and whether the syrup/water mixture is calibrated properly.

From my pizza place job way back in high school, I remember the tech coming along with a little doohickey that he attached to the nozzle that kept the syrup and soda water separate to measure them. He'd then adjust the nozzle as necessary so that it was putting out the right amount of each.
