Castle Walls In Expansion

The one thing that keeps nagging at me with the expansion are the proposed castle walls in the current Dumbo location. How is this going to work? It would seem they want to set the new expansion apart from the existing Fantasyland attractions, but I personally see it as an obstruction and potential bottleneck.

It could be that these walls don't make it to completion, but are there any thoughts on this admittedly minor aspect?

I think the castle walls are an important detail. They will reinforce the illusion that you are taking a journey into other lands as part of the FL forest. I'll be shocked if they don't build them.

Yea it would take away from the feeling that you are leaving MK and heading into an Enchanted Forest.

I think the walls will most definitely be built. I would just pray that they make the distance between them large enough to accomodate a large amount of traffic flow.

Trying to picture myself walking from the courtyard towards FF... I can imagine it quite vividly and IMHO it should be amazing.

Me too. And at night it should be even more amazing with the lighting, Beast Castle, the Chateau, PH etc. :)

Looking at the blueprints and model, they shouldn't be any more restrictive than the planters you find scattered around the park already.

Yea, and if you look at the concept art (who knows if it will actually look like that) it seems like it's not just the one main entrance to FF but a lot of little archways across to walk through as well.

Speaking of the walls and the concept art... Did anyone notice how the right wall is just kind of out there like a random island? It's not really connected to the castle or anything. I kinda hope that's not the plan. I originally assumed it was physically dividing SWSA from Pooh. Anyone know more?

I suppose my problem is I've always considered it in terms of an expansion of the existing, but it really will be more like a separate land. In that approach the walls make a lot more sense. I'm just hoping they aren't in the way.

Looking at the concept art again, I see what you mean about the multiple entrances - that should help it from being a bottleneck. The right hand wall does appear to be floating though. I suppose Mrs. Potts ice cream counter is there, so you can't really connect it up. I'm not even sure from the concept that it even connect up by Pinnoccio's. The whole thing might be a floating wall.

The wall is connected but not to PVH. It seems to be attached to the back of the iasw show building. Wonder what they would fill with that space between PVH and the wall... :veryconfu Oh well, I guess the concept art isn't really the best to go off of but I just happened to notice that. Weird how I've looked at that artwork so many times and I still keep finding stuff to point out. Haha.

Good question. Right now you can walk straight from Snow White to Pooh. Will they completely partition them and make you go around the wall or leave a space?

Guess I can see arguments for both approaches, but it seems like leaving a small space would invite massive crowding. Some "old timers" might be annoyed at having to go around the wall knowing the rides are right next door to each other tight as toast, but it would probably be better for the theming they're going for.

Also...why on earth are the Teacups in the forest?

I would imagine the short answer is they can't really move them, since the courtyard area will be crowded enough already. Does anyone know if the 'Cups will get any kind of redesign or tweaking?

There's also the bathrooms between PVH and the Grotto. The wall seems to go behind those bathrooms, leaving them within the Castle walls.

Good call! I always forget those bathrooms are back there. That makes a lot of sense then. But still... that right wall just bugs me floating out there like that. Guess we'll have to see what happens.

Well, the mad tea party is located in Wonderland's forest in the movie

And the roof is concepted to be redesigned as clear (glass) like DLP's. It's very nice, but I haven't heard much about which leads me to believe it's dead. \:

Walls and access

Plus, I was just thinking, if the walls and walkways through the walls have any type of doors or gates, it will help with crowd control from the fallout area for the Wishes! Fireworks.

The new Castle Walls aren't where the fallout closure line is in Fantasyland. If they were to close off the new wall with doors, it would essentially make it impossible to get from Winnie the Pooh to Peter Pan's Flight.

The ropes for the Wishes closure are much closer to the castle than the new wall.

Fantasyland Fallout

One time I was there, they had all of Fantasyland closed for the fireworks. It reopened after, but you could not get past Pooh. I do not know where the cutoff was on the other side.

I remember standing outside Philharmagic a few times to watch Wishes!, so I assumed the moved the line back. Considering once I was there with my brother-in-law, and he got hit in the head with a spent shell. So it made since to me that they moved the line further back.

To me, it would seem you would not have access to Philharmagic, The Carousel, and Snow White... just during the show... then it could reopen for traffic... Seems like it would be easy and safer. I guess time will tell.

As said before...the Tea Party scene in the movie is in the forest.
But I think the question should be are they doing anything to make a better transition from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland near the tea cups?

That area has always bothered me. There is no transition between lands.
