Audio-Animatronics

In the latest "Celebrations" magazine, there is a very interesting article by Adam Goswick. It goes into the history of AA's into the develpment of the latest A-100 series, Lucky the dino, Push the talking trash can, Wes Palm, The Muppet Mobile Labs (upcoming), and Mr. Potato Head for Toy Story Mania. My question would be, where do the old models go? The nine inch model (vaudeville dancing man based on Buddy Epsen) and some others. Is there some sort of vault or "Indiana Jones" warehouse for all these?

I think quite a lot of them get recycled into other attractions or cannibalized for parts to repair still functioning rides that have older ones.

I doubt famous ones are destroyed. I'm sure ones with historical value are preserved, but most old ones are cannibalized.

Rumor has it that a lot of the human audio animatronics from Horizons are stored under the Carousel of Progress for this purpose.

The Buddy Ebsen "Dancing Man" figure and stage can be seen in the One Man's Dream exhibit at the Studios.

Sometimes animatronic figures are re-used in other attractions, either from the beginning or used to "plus" an existing attraction:

-There's the most well-known AA re-uses of the figures from America Sings in Disneyland going into their Splash Mountain, except for a couple goose AAs becoming the droids in the Star Tours queue.

-Chickens from World of Motion made their way into the barn at Barnstormer.

-A few World of Motion figures were added to the end of Disneyland's Pirates.

-A few other WoM figures were added to the Greek Theater/Mathematics scene in Spaceship Earth.
