How much does the parkhopper option cost?

My wife and I and our 3 year old son are planning a trip in April and I initially added the parkhopper option. However, given that I only see one day where I would be likely to parkhop, I'm not sure it's worth all the extra money to have the parkhopper option, when I could just rearrange the plan a little so as not to have to parkhop. A couple years ago, I remember it was 45 bucks per adult for the parkhopper option, but I'm not sure what it is this year, or how much it is for a child. How much would I save by dumping that option off my ticket?

The Park Hopper option is a flat fee of $52 per ticket, plus tax.

Having a child along may increase the need for it.

:)

So is that 52 dollars the price for a child as well as an adult?

I was actually thinking just the opposite about having a child along. I was thinking that the presence of my son on the trip would require us to slow down and spend less time in the parks per day. And that would reduce the need to do two parks in one day, since we would need to get back to the hotel earlier than we would without him along, so that he and my wife could rest. When my wife and I went the first couple times before having kids, I would like to spend the first part of the day in one park, then hop over to another one and stay there until closing time. But I know that won't be possible with a child along.

But if dropping it would save 156 bucks plus tax, that would pay for our admission to Universal. :D

Including tax the park hopper option is 55.38 for both an adult or child ticket.

I have been 3x with my son and each time we did not do the park hopper option. It would just be too much with a little one. We usually stay for about a week so we do everything we want during that time and never need to hop. If we were staying for a few days than maybe, so we could fit more in but this way saves us $, time (actually takes time away to hop from park to park) and the stress of getting to another place for a certain show or parade.

The last time we were there we used that $ and went with the water and more option. This worked out great. We were able to go to DQ, a water park and also a major park all in one day, if need be.

Good luck with your choice.

The main thing to remember about the Park Hopper option is you can add it at anytime for the same price. It's best not to get it unless you know for a fact that you plan on hopping between parks. If you decide while you at one park that you want to hit a different park that same day all you have to do is go to guest services and have them add the park hopper option and you will be set to go.

The first time we took our kids they were your kids ages. We got the hopper and it turned out to be a waste, we never hopped parks. It was just too much for the kids. Fast forward a year and we got the hopper again, we used it once and that was only to go over to Epcot to celebrate my sister's birthday. Now my kids are 4 and 6 and I decided not to get the hopper for our next trip because we simply haven't used it in the past. It's always an option to add if needed but for us we just haven't utilized it so why not save a little money.

We decided the same thing. DD and I have done hopper on all our previous trips, but this time I decided to skip it. In the past we have used it quite a bit (or at least a little bit), usually to hit the nighttime show at another park or hit a dinner reservation. We'll be there 7 full days, so we can do 3 parks 2 days and 1 park once, probably DHS, or something similar. It just takes a little planning to make sure we'll catch the shows on the nights we they'll be shown. The extra cost just doesn't make sense.

Our first trip to WDW our kids were 20 months and 4 1/2. We never hopped. In fact, with the exception of our last trip (where we were only in Disney parks for ONE day) we have never used our Park Hopper option. ***Never mind.....****

It has always seemed like a ton of work to load the kids on a bus and drag them over to the next park. It wasn't as bad as we had anticipated, BUT we did know that we were only in the parks one day, wouldn't be headed back to the parks for another long day the next day, etc. I think that helped.

The hopper option is a flat $55.00 (& some change) per person NOT per person per day. So if you had hoppers for a family of 4 you spent about $215 on an option you didn't use...not $1800...if that makes you feel better

I'm getting that 500 dollar gift card deal as well. So, since my meals are prepaid on the dining plan, and since I'm not going to buy a bunch of useless junk that I would not have otherwise purchased without the card, if it appears that my spending at WDW will not use up the entire gift card, I could always add the parkhopper option at the gate if I need it, and pay for it with the gift card. That way, that 165 bucks for the parkhopping option would be paid for with the excess money on the gift card, freeing up cash to use on some of our off property activities...such as Universal. But that's only IF our regular spending doesn't come close to the 500 bucks on the gift card, but it doesn't seem to take too long to spend that kind of money at WDW...between dining gratuities, photos, souveniers, etc.

We only hopped that once because we went to DQ and TL and BB. We went to TL in the morning and it got rained out so we left early, went back to change and relax for a bit and then went to Mk, I think. On another night, since AK closes fairly early we went to DQ for a little arcade fun. So yeah, that day we did hop a bit but not in the major parks. We did BB in one whole day and then had dinner and saw fireworks in Epcot but I don't really consider that hopping.

The water park and more option allows you to have as many credits as you have days there so you really can hop to those as many credits as you have. OK, let's say you are there for a week. Then you have 7 credits for that option. So if you do BB and DQ in one day, you have just used 2. The major parks are seperate. I think this is a better option than the regular hopper.

We go every year in September and have always added the park hopper option to our tickets. We were able to swing 2 trips in 2009...one is Sept the other in December. To cut the cost somewhat we did not add the hopper options to our tickets in December. We did not miss it at all! It does take a little more careful planning in deciding which parks to visit on what day, where are the EMH and where do I have dining reservations at on that day, but it is doable (is that a word?:veryconfu) If you can look at your plans now and see you only think you will need it for one day, I'd pass.........:)
