When we go we request Raratonga because it has nice views of the greenry and pool an it's right next to the main building which has all shops, dining, and the monorail.

Don't get one with the magic kingdom view, it's great to watch the fireworks but when you get off the monorail at night and your feet are sore as all get out going to the very back of the Poly is NOT fun!

We like Tokelau. Central location, larger rooms than the other longhouses, steps from Sunset Point, observation deck at the top of the stairs with perfect view of the fireworks, close to the laundry, nice views, and it is a quite area of the resort.

After staying in a different longhouse on our last trip (Aotearoa...which I would not suggest), I realized how much I loved the central location of Tokelau, and the larger rooms. If you are a couple, the little bit of extra space would not make a difference. But for us (family with kids) it made a big difference.

I have to second the vote for Tokelau. We have always stayed here except for once when we were upgraded to a MK view in Tahiti. We like Tokelau for the central location. The proximity to the laundry facilities is nice for when we want to wash up a few things before heading home, the parking lot is a straight shot from the end of the building, it is close to Sunset Point and it is equidistant between the GCH and the TTC for monorail transport to the MK and Epcot respectively. We don't use the buses, but the stops are right at the walkway from Tokelau when going to the parking lot.

I hope you have a great time. You will enjoy yourself wherever you go.

P.S. I know this is debated all the time and there are people that say it no longer works, but I always send a poem to the front desk 10-14 days in advanced which I instruct them to read to the music of the Mickey Mouse Club theme. In it, I make my request for Tokelau and a specific room and tell them a little bit about what makes this trip a special one for all of us (once was our 50th visit, once we were with three people in their late 20's who had never been etc.) The last time we had two birthdays and when we checked in, the front desk person greeted me and when I told her who I was, she did her stuff and said, "OH YES! You are the one who wrote the poem!" She then went to get one of the other ladies who remembered me from before and even remembered some of the lyrics I had written in past visits. So, I know what others say, but I can only say that from my experience, it has worked as recently as October, 2009.

May I suggest that you check out tikimanpages.com.

It is a great website about the Poly. Really any question you might have can probably be answered there.

There is even a whole section on the long houses and the pros and cons of each one.

I'm a big fan of the Rapa Nui longhouse, which is where I was randomly placed on my honeymoon. It was really quiet, which was it's biggest perk. If you want to be in a quiet area, this is a good place to stay. The other thing I loved about it was it's proximity to the Ticket & Transportation Center. We could talk to and from it very easily, and since we were coming and going a lot it was nice for us.

You aren't as close to the Great Ceremonial House here, but it's only a few minutes away and it's a very pretty/peaceful walk. :)

Love Tikiman's page by the way! It helped me a ton when planning my Poly visit!

Make it a hat trick for Tokelau. O.K, so I've only stay'ed at the Poly once but I loved the location of the building so much that I hope on future visits I stay in the same building. Everything at the resort and the TTC is less than a 5 minute walk.

Definitely check out Tikiman's website. Also feel free to email him for longhouse suggestions. That's what I did before our recent stay at the Poly. We requested Tokelau but ended up in Niue, which we really loved. It was super close to the GCH, which made going to Captain Cooks a breeze. Also we were really close to the Volcano pool but you wouldn't know it as you never heard any noise from it. We always walked to the TTC if we were heading to Epcot or MK. It was a great way to start the morning and end the day. There is nothing like coming from the TTC and stepping onto the Poly grounds and being surrounded by the smell of flowers. We've requested Niue for our next trip.

Thanks everyone, now we only have to make the final decision to tear ourselves away from the pleasures of the Beach Club and Epcot .... it's a tough choice. :)

I thought Tahiti was great. Standard view is of grounds-no noise from pool or monorail and no views of parking lot. Get a 3rd floor room for a balcony. What really makes this location nice is the short walk to the TTC to get the monorail over to Epcot.

I've stayed in Tahiti Longhouse before. It offers some of the best views of the MK and is nearby to the quiet pool. Also, the TTC is in walking distance, which makes life convenient for trips to EPCOT. Walk over here to avoid taking the monorail all the way around to transfer to the EPCOT line. The grounds are beautiful and the walk to the Great Ceremonial House from here is relaxing. Oh and the bus stop is on the way! Enjoy your stay, it's excellent at the Poly!

Aloha! :king:
