I'm on board for the Tikiman, too! Check out his website. Consider how you travel, what your needs while at a resort are, prioritize, then look for the best location to fit that bill.
I've only stayed at Poly once with my brother and his daughters last May. Our biggest priorities were transportation convenience & laundry. If you've ever had to haul big ol' laundry sacks long distances this quickly moves to the top of your priority list. My brother had booked a garden view room and we wanted as much space as possible. With 2 tween girls space is veeery important. We requested Tokelau as our 1st choice and got it. We did, however, also list 2 other longhouses in the order of preference. We ended up on the ground floor which was wonderful. Instead of having a balcony we had a patio with a lush, sprawling, shaded lawn only a few steps away from Sunset Point (my brother said Wishes was amazing from there). Laundry was just outside one end of the building with the bus depot not far beyond that. The TTC wasn't much farther away than the GCH which made catching the monorail to Epcot a breeze. The walk wasn't bad at all. A quiet pool was also just outside another door. All-in-all, Tokelau fit our needs perfectly. We couldn't have had a better, more convenient location. Okay, well maybe we could've if we had a room *in* the GCH but you get the point. LOL!
