Does Disney Know How Many Times You Go To WDW?

After reading an old article about a woman who rode the Indy attraction 5000 times at DL in a old Disney Magazine, something else occurred to me. Is there such a record they keep of park visitors visiting? Sorry if it sounds rather dumb, but my curiosity always get the best of me...

It would be pretty cool, as an example, if they can scan your card (or fingerprint) and keep a record database of every tourist, though.

I don't know how they could keep track of who enters a park when not staying onsite (unless you are a season ticket holder), but I do know they know how many times you have stayed onsite & where and how old the kids now are.

 That's just as good! Where do you ask for that info? Thanks!

Sure, each ticket has a name on it unless it is a single day ticket. They know when the ticket has been used. On the other hand i would imagine they could not care less how many times you have been to Disney. My family has been to Disney World hundreds of times and we haven't received a thank you card yet... In fact we go so often we ran into our cousins in the park last xmas...

On a related note...

Why when you cal 407-wdisney they ask you how many times you have visited wdw? I can't image why they would care if you have been the 5 times versus 6. Just something we were wondering about.

I think it is used to either

A) Determine what kind of operator you get (new or experienced)

or

B) To make you think you are not holding as long as you actually are

Personally, I lean towards B.

I agree they ask because they are trying to gauge how much information they need to give you. I know when we call we tell them what we want and they just type it in. We can make hotel reservations in less then 5-minutes start to finish.

I don't ask for it, they tell ME when we make our reservations.
"Oh, I see you will be staying at the WL again, that's 10 times now. Will the girls be making this trip too?" that kind of thing....always gives me the creeps. :lookaroun

I agree with this and believe this is how all of Disney works. I can kinda speak from example, slightly different. I know in DisneyQuest if you have experience with the CyberSpace Mountain program then they will let you do it by yourself and not go through all the instructions of sliding the card through and pressing buttons, they just give you the card and basically say "Go for it!".

What I'm saying is I believe Disney is experience based if that makes sense.

Strange, they always ask us how many times and never tell me how many times I've been?

I am assuming that the initial VRU (Voice response unit) is used to break the caller base down into segments for AHT (Average handling time) measurements.

Somone who has not been a lot vs. someone who has but has not been in a while vs. somone who has been 50 times, and was there last month - they are all going to need a different amount of hand holding on the call.

I don't know this for sure, but I would be VERY suprised if their call center managers did not have AHT targets that they are held to for each demographic.

Sure Disney knows how many times you go. They know everything. That's because of the microchip that they implant in the back of your neck when you're in SGE all strapped in.

Sometimes when I call they will ask me how many times I have been. Other times they will remind me my last trip was in X month of X year. Occasionally when I call they will think I am my mother. I have also had them ask me if so and so will be staying with me. They clearly keep a list of all the people who have accompanied me to Disney and they just pick a random name off the list sometimes. I think Disney has a large file on me (and most of us here).

The last time i called to make reservations the person knew how many times i have stayed onsite, and the last time i stayed onsite. Also as some one mentioned above they asked if the same people will be accompanying me and all.

I'm guessing when you book a trip they keep track. Maybe just some dont bother to mention that they see you have been 6 times already? Or maybe dont want to assume you have only been 6 times maybe more? Working in client services and talking to clients a lot you like to make that personal connection but sometimes people feel uncomfortable assuming. Perhaps if one may ask "will the children be joining you on this trip?" and unfortunately something happened the person may get upset? Just my guess

I have actually heard to philosophies on this. One is like you described in answer A. The other is because guests seems to follow a particular pattern in regards to up-selling. A new guest is typically looking for a bare bones trip. They want to stay on property, go to the parks and that is about it. A frequent WDW guest however is typically open to something new like a fireworks cruise, Dinner show, etc.

The system seems a little screwy to me on this. We try to go about 3x per year and have been there about 30 times. Our most recent trip was this past May. When I called to make our Sept and Dec ressies, the CM said "I've seen your most recent trip was 07 and you've been here 22 times" This is odd because when I called the time before that, they saw that I had been there in May 09 and 30 times. Not sure what's going on.

You're not expecting the Disney computer systems to work consistently are you?:ROFLOL:

Not at all:) About 7 years ago our area code changed although the rest of the number stayed the same. If I type in our current phone number, Disney has no record of me, even though I have told CMs about the change and they always "change it in the system". The system must be difficult to break into because the change has never stayed. If I use our old phone number, voila! there I am.
