Gah! Quick DME question!

I searched for the answer to this question, but couldn't find an answer. And I think this is kind of a stupid question, but whatever!

Are the yellow tags that get sent for DME meant for one bag or two? I've never brought more than two bags before (two people, one bag per person), but I'm planning on putting a few things in a second bag (Southwest--- no extra fee!), so I'm not sure if the yellow tags are meant for two bags or just one because I've never had to worry about it before!

I'm sure someone here will know. P.S.--- we leave TOMORROW morning! :)

If you received enough tags to put one on each bag, you're good to go.

Each bag with a tag will be transfered. However, if you have more bags than tags, all is not lost... Tag what bags you can and if possible take a digital pic of the untagged bag and print it off. Then, when you check in at DME let them know that you had more bags than tags, give them the pic of the extra bag so they know what they look like [they have a big chart that you can try and find what your bag looks like but a pic speeds up that process] and your baggage claim stubs. They will retrieve all the bags, tags or not.

They only send 1 yellow luggage tag per person now. If you have more than two bags with two travelers you will have to either pick up one of the bags when u get there or when u check in for DME let them know you have a 3rd bag that is not tagged, and they will get it for you. In order to get more than one yellow luggage tag per person you have to tell them when u book DME.

We've had a situation where we didn't have enough tags and called our travel agent. She gave us yellow tages which we had to write our names on. The DME people in Orlando will want to know how many bags you have and what the claim number is, they can then be sure to get all of your bags for you.

All right, thanks so much! :) Glad to know they'll pick it up even if it's not tagged--- honestly, we're just bringing down an extra bag with a few things in it because we typically buy so much stuff when we're there!

I pack an empty duffel bag in my suitcase going down, use it as a dirty laundry bag as the trip goes on thus freeing up space for stuff I buy.

The instructions on the back of the yellow tags (saying how to attach them to your luggage) can be a little misleading.

Step 1 states "Separate at the center perforation to create two single luggage tags." This dates back to when they would send you *two* luggage tags per Guest. They came as two long strips, attached side-by-side and had to be separated before you used them.

When they changed the policy to mailing out only one tag per Guest, they neglected to eliminate this text from the instructions on the tag. (Or perhaps they're just using up all the old tag stock, and new tags will omit this)

I wonder how many people separate a single luggage tag at the fold, thinking that's what is meant by the "center perforation"...

Exactly! That's why I was confused! I'm really not that dumb though, honest.
