The BoneYard at Disney World and Kitchen Kabaret Rumors and Questions

My dad, my sister, my mom, and me were riding in front of the monorail with the captain.....

He told us that there is a BoneYard where items from attractions that have been closed have been put there..... I believe him... but the thing I want to know is where it is, and how can you get in it? (tour, have to be a cast member... etc)

Also, someone told me that Bonnie Apetit's head is stored in the Boneyard or under the Carousel of Progress..... and that you can go on a 'secret' tour and play with the controls that control her body in an Imaginering warehouse....

Can anyone confirm this?

'Nuff said right there.

I don't know Bonnie Apetit is REALLY unlikely if you ask me. The boneyard is true though. There isn't a tour for it; its backstage behind the Contemporary and MK.

The Bonnie Apetit animatronic (or at least what's left of it) can be seen in the Central Shops in the North Service area if you take the Backstage Magic Tour. You can indeed control parts of it briefly while on the tour. I've seen it twice on that tour over the years. The first time I saw it, it was inside the area where all of the maintenance is done on the animatronics. That particular visit was during the big Small World rehab so they had countless of the dolls in there for rehab and refresh. The second time (last fall) it was out in the hall outside of that area.

There is what is referred to as the boneyard in a large lot just to the northeast of Space Mountain. Over the years things like the subs from 20K Leagues were stored there briefly after demolition of the attraction. If you look at the location on Google Maps you'll see lots of storage trailers and what looks like small boat hulls and things in the current images.

Boneyard

I seriously doubt there are any tours that would take you there. You'd probably have to be a facilities/maintenance CM in order to be even seen near there.

I've seen some shots of the Boneyard as shown in this picture, but where were the 20k subs buried? It looks like this site is pretty cluttered with stuff. The area where the 20k subs were buried was a little more desolate if I remember correctly.
By the way, what is that area just northeast of the boneyard, across the northeast corner of Bay Lake? It seems like there's a big open field with a big fenced-in area that seems to have nothing in it (but looks like it may be relatively new grass). I want to say that this area reminds me of the resting place of the 20k subs.....???

Here are some comparison pics:

Before burial:

After Burial (position is rotated clockwise 90 degrees):

The boneyard area is no longer a truly secured area as you do not pass through any security gates to get to it. Anyone can get back there as long as you know where you are going. Was just through there about 2 weeks ago and everyhting has been cleared out and cleanup up there.

Do you mean this?

Whatever it is, it appears to be off-property. Switch over to map view and you'll see it is located outside the grey area.

I'm not sure, but this area looks alot like where your pictures came from. Far northwestern edge of the property. Note the partially buried containers.

Ahhh, here we go. Another site, another view of same area showing the subs.

I have been meaning to drive over to see if I could get close to it. The sattelite wikimapia images I've seen show lots of 'stuff', but if there isn't much to see anymore I'll pass. Thanks for saving me a trip.

The area is 'restricted' but there are no guards.. I'm sure mouse surplus has picked the place clean at this point... everything else has been move to the landfill on the other side of MK.. I haven't driven deep in there, but didn't seem like there was much out there anymore..

Meanwhile.. if you are looking for the entrance to the area, it's the area marked as the 'Pluto Lot' when you are driving down world drive towards central shops/transportation..

You can see in this picture that there are old small world boats, as well as the old 'bodies' for the indy speedway cars that are/were out there..

Yea the boneyard is pretty empty at this point. Last time my friends were there one of the old Jungle Cruise candy boats was still there. Pretty cool.

Saw Bonnie Appetit on the tour a couple years ago, or what's left of her. They let you play with a couple animatronic movements.

As to whether its worth it, depends on how much money you have. If you decide to try it, get the Disney Visa (which is free) for the discount. You do see some pretty darn cool things, which you could not otherwise see (Back/Under stage at American Adventure was way cool, for exmaple), but the price is certianly large.
