Test Track Briefing Rooms

Some friends just got back from their vacation. They said that at Test Track the briefing rooms were not in use. You just went straight through and boarded the ride. Anybody know why this might be and if it is a permanent change?

Occasionally at the end of the night, or if there are really no lines, you will get to walk thru and bypass the briefing room video. It isn't common at all. I would doubt it was a permanent change.

Hmm yeah I know I rode Test Track twice during my holiday (back in April 08) and only recall seeing the Pre-Show once and know I definately rode once right at the end of the night so I think this happened to me as well, I just didnt even notice

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I guess it makes sense. It's not really part of the ride, just a way to pacify the crowd until the can board. Why bother if it would just lower the guests/hour rate?

How does it lower the throughput? As several people just pointed out, when it's slow, they don't use the rooms. Otherwise it's just like watching the monitors in the safari queue, or your "pre launch briefing" in M:S. The rooms always seem to empty out just when the short queue in the loading area is emptying out. So there is no real lowering of the throughput.

I've also personally had them bypassed when the ride just re-opened after a prolonged downtime where the queue was cleared. It made sense to me to get people on the ride instead of waiting when the ride was back to being functional again.

I suppose this is what they will do when / if GM pull out, on a temporary basis until they can get some new footage/audio in there.

doubtful.. the preshow briefing is used ot stagger crowd levels to the load platform... they'll probably just continue to use the footage with the general motors references.... SSE went for months and months with at&T references all over the place...

The pre-show rooms also serve as the safety warning, though really just the "buckle up" part of it...

I am assuming the boarding video (as it currently exists) will be removed at the end of the year.(along with the GM sponsorship. Welcome Toyota.:sohappy:)

I dont mind that pre-show. I like to look at the wall photos of the building etc. I dont think i have watched the actual video once.

I've awalys thought that these videos primary purpose is to make the queue seem shorter. It's a psycological "great. I'm on the ride now" despite having to queue for longer. I think ToT does this quite well.

You are correct, on both accounts.

No one really pays attention during that preshow anyway...at least not when I'm there.
