I have heard a lot of talk about the boardwalk on these forums but I must admit that I had never heard of it before on any of my previous WDW visits. I was just wondering where it is, what is there to do there and is it worth spending some time at?

*Typing this as I sit in my room at Boardwalk* If you go out the back gate of World Showcase (between France and the UK) and follow the path around youll come to boardwalk. It sits across the lagoon from the Yacht and Beach Club. There are several restaurants ranging from the Bakery to Spoodles, Flying Fish and ESPN. Also, many nights there are boardwalk games (like basketball) and street acts like jugglers. Also there is a dance hall.

LOL im sorry if Im rambling but its been a long day and im SO EXCITED to be here

I think of the Boardwalk as a Downtown Disney Light. Its a really amazing location that is geared to a slightly older crowed although anyone can enjoy it. Theres some great Restaurants, and I highly Recommend Spoodles for Breakfast. And there there is also a night club. But the Boardwalk is also a Hotel that is just a beautiful place to stay, my mom and I stayed their the last time I was down and its become her favorite resort at the park, and it used to be the Polynesian. So overal what I'm trying to say is, if you want something to do before going to Epcot, or Hollywood studios one day, or you want soemthing different to break up the day, its a great place that almost makes you forget that your in Disney for a second.

Boardwalk = dining, entertainment and shopping. The Boardwalk Inn and Villas are connected. Its a short walk to Epcot, the Studios and you can walk around the lake and visit the Yacht & Beach Clubs. Its a fun place to hang out in the evening; we stayed at the Inn and while the area is nice, we didn't enjoy the hotel...its too big.

Well, first of all, the Boardwalk is part of the Epcot Resort Area, which is located behind Epcot. If you've been to Epcot, you may have noticed that there is a canal between France and the United Kingdom that goes back beyond the aprk. You may also have seen the International Gateway area, which is a sperate entrance to Epcot for the convience of guests staying in the Epcot Resorts. Beyond this area is the Boardwalk.

The Epcot Resorts themselves consist of the Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Swan and Dolphin Resorts. There are also timeshares which are known as the Boardwalk Villas. All of these resorts border on a lake, which I believe is known as Crescent Lake.

The Boardwalk itself is an area of shops and restaurants meant to evoke the feel and charm of beachside boardwalks that were popular in the early 20th century. Think something along the lines of Coney Island. Some of the restaurants include Spoodles (pasta, Italian fare), Flying Fish Cafe (seafood I believe), the ESPN Club (sports bar), along with a bakery. There are also shops, along with a dance hall open at night.

Friendship Boat transportation is provided to the Boardwalk and the surrounding resorts from Epcot (via International Gateway) and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Additionally, guests staying at Epcot Resorts can make their way tho Epcot and DHS by boarding a Friendship boat. Walkways and paths also allow guests to walk between the resorts and to and from the theme parks.

Is it worth it to spend time there? Sure, I think so. The area itself is quiet and pleasant, and provides welcomed relief from the hustle and bustle of the parks. At the same time, you may just find a new favorite restaurant or shop. Also, if you visit, be sure to wander in and out of the hotels that boarder the Boardwalk. I find it to be relaxing, and interesting, to do so.

Finally, click on the link below. You'll see Epcot to the right, and to the left is the Boardwalk area. Have fun scrolling through it.

I LOVE the Boardwalk!!! We stay there almost every visit since we joined DVC. My family loves to eat at ESPN Club and I've heard that the Dance Hall and Jellyrolls are fun. I'm excited to try them out in a few months.

I don't think I'd go so far as to describe Boardwalk as "amazing". Nice, maybe. But not amazing. What about it do you find amazing?

love the area as it is center to almost everything. Great night life. Not a fan of Boardwalk Inn, over priced. I rather stay and Beach Club and walk to Beaches n Cream for a milk shake..or maybe a kitchen sink :slurp:

Actually, we are staying and BC in Sept....can't wait :sohappy:

Love the Boardwalk!!!

What a perfect view . We love it too. I know some think it's too big, but it's really no bigger than the other deluxe resorts, it's just not all spread out. 28 days and I'm missin the world:cry:

We spent an evening at Boardwalk back in October of last year and loved it. We actually stayed there for three nights back in December and absolutely loved the place. The biggest draws for us at Boardwalk are the awesome atmosphere, scenery and just overall beauty of the resort. During the holidays the entire place is decked out in gorgeous decorations and they have a really cool edible carrousel in the main lobby. You can't actually eat it though.:(

At night Boardwalk really comes alive with fantastic street performers all over the actual "boardwalk". We especially loved the magician and the juggler, both were fantastic at their craft and were laugh out loud funny.

My one and only complaint about Boardwalk is actually the thing that most people rave about...the dining. We have eaten both breakfast and dinner at Spoodles and our experience was less than stellar both times. It wasn't horrible, but it was very underwhelming, especially after all of the good things I had heard about it. Boardwalk Bakery is awesome but it's just too small and congested and ill equipped to handle the amount of traffic it gets in the morning. Breakfast at Boardwalk Bakery was one of the weakest I've had on property but if you stick to the usual bakery fare it's awesome. We had major delays getting there on our first night and we didn't get to eat dinner so at 11:00pm that night we ordered room service and it was delivered very quickly and was very good.

We have yet to eat at Flying Fish but we hope to on one of our upcoming trips as we hear it's one of the better seafood places at WDW.

Another big draw to Boardwalk is the very close proximity to both Epcot and DHS. We would leave our room and within ten minutes we were going through the turnstile at International Gateway. You can walk to DHS in about the same time or you can take a ferry over.

Overall Boardwalk is an awesome place and we hope to stay there again soon. We're actually on a waiting list for a Boardwalk room in December...but we'll see.

My wife and I met up with sbkline and his wife there a few weeks ago and he wasn't a big fan so I guess it just all depends on what you like. That's the beauty of having so many different themed resorts at WDW, everyone is bound to find something that they like.

A couple issues I found with the boardwalk:

  1. The room was plain and small.
  2. Don't buy a refill mug, you have to leave the resort and walk down the boardwalk to refill. Which is in the back so excess walking if you ride the buses to MK or AK.
  3. The store is outside the resort. So package pickup and anything you need you have to go outside to the boardwalk and walk down the street.
  4. The arcade is outside the resort.
  5. all the food is outside the resort so you have to leave the resort and walk down the boardwalk
I guess I think everything is all spread out and not easy to get to. It wasn't fun getting wet in May.

We have spent alot of time on the Boardwalk shopping and just exploring it all and we loved the feel of the area. We will be staying there in Just 54 days (our first trip using our DVC):sohappy:
At night was just amazing very laid back and relaxed but still so much to do, and during Christmas season there was a choir on the lawn singing Christmas songs and in another area there was a group playing the bells, very very neat!
Can't wait to acually stay there and not just be a visitor there!

I can't go to WDW without visiting the Boardwalk area. The entire area around Crescent Lake is really nice - the Yacht and Beach Clubs have an amazing pool, there is a nice beach, outdoor entertainment at night (even on the shores of Beach Club), etc. If Epcot is your favorite place to be, you can't beat staying in this area.

Most people wouldn't think it's amazing, but something about it keeps me going back. I love the boat access to Epcot and DHS, the different array of hotels, the bridges where you can see Paris along the river... it's one of my favorite places in WDW.

Wife and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this resort, but mostly because it's right at Epcot's back door. The theming and restaurants are very nice too. Agree with a lot of your comments. The rooms are kinda small and plain, especially compaired to GF or Poly. But like Poly and GF, you do have to go outside to get to things like the bakery, store, and arcade. They are not outisde the resort, The boardwalk is part of the resort, but you do have to go outside to get them.
