We all been there... You in the line, you are waiting to get on your favorite attraction, and then while you are in the line...the ride breaks down.

Now, these break downs means that its going to be a long while before the ride starts up again.

So the question is: What do you do when you are stuck in a line of an attraction that breaks down.

Welcome!

There are so many factors that affect what I do when I am in the queue and the unimaginable happens!

-Why did the ride go down? I was in line for EE when it went down due to lightening in the area. I was in the next 20 or so to get on the ride.....I waited 15 minutes but it was so hot in that area of the queue I left. If it is just weather and it seems like it will subside, I will often stay in the ride.

-If it is Test Track I'd stay for a little while because that ride can come back up pretty quickly. And it is pretty cool inside so you're all comfortable.

-I've been in line for Space Mtn and it went down and came up in about 15 minutes...

The problem is they don't know and can't tell you why the ride went down a lot of the time. If there is something closer that you can do and then come back to the 101 ride, I do that also. It all depends on the wait conditions. Like is it hot there or what. Or if I am hungry - then I leave, eat, and come back.

I guess it depends on whether you're in the Fire Mountain queue or in Beastly Kingdom..... :lookaroun

I'll usually just check back later. Back in 2002 I think it was, I went to WDW and Uni with my brother and best friend. I had never been on MiB before, and we were only going for the day. The queue was insane...we had waited for more than an hour when it broke down (whether it's due to crowds of FP, I haven't waited more than 30 minutes for a WDW attraction in several years, so this is a rarity). So, we decided we had invested enough time in the queue to wait it out. Most people left the queue, so we moved up considerably. Sixty minutes later (approx), the queue re-opened and happiness was restored.

The only problem....the safety spiel. OMG, that loop played over....and over.....and over. I can still hear it, 6 years later "What a doofus!" Do they still play the same cartoon about the "Doofus" who doesn't follow the safety rules?

Anyway, back to the topic at hand - I usually just check back later :)

Welcome

I would actually stay (especially if the line is long) because normally the majority of the people leave the line and that brings you closer to the front! =)

We usually go an do something else. But i can;t remember int he last 5 years or so we've been in line when a ride broke down (knowingly). But I;ve been on nearly every attraction that has broken down. Splash, BTM, Stitch, Test Track, WtPooh, Snow White, Philharmagic (it can happen, one of the curtains didn;t open) haunted mansion, buzz, many more...

Usually there is some sort of anger involved at first, but then I will try and ask a CM how long the ride is supposed to be down. If it's supposed to be for a long time, we'll go do something else.

Never happened to me but I suppose I'd stay since many would leave but it depended on how long it would take to start back up and exactly where I was in line. If I was towards the back, i'd be outta there.:)

It usually depends on several things. What ride, where Im at in the line, if I have a fastpass for it.

Space mt. Ill usually wait it out, if Im close to the ride, other rides I probably just get off, unless Im really close. But it depends on other things too.

So the question is: What do you do when you are stuck in a line of an attraction that breaks down.

First, I swear.
Second, I say "Ouch", because my wife has slapped me in the back of the head due to the swearing.
Third, I apologize to the people around me for the swearing.

Then I try to figure out what is going on. For any ride that actually has a line, I'll stick around for at least 5 minutes to see what's up. But beyond that, unless I can find a CM with information that indicates a short wait, I'll usually leave. I have little patience for standing in a line that isn't moving, and there's always something interesting going on at a Disney park.

We have a 15 minute rule. If it is longer than that, move on. It is frustrating sometimes, though. More than once, we'll get out of the broken down Space Mt line and go on TTA and watch the line opening us below us as we whizz by!
