Animal Kingdom Accident

Wanted to let everyone know that I just saw on my local news that today there was an accident on KS. It was reported that one of the trucks caught fire. Most guests suffered little to no injury (just a few scrapes and bruises). The ride was said to be shut down the rest of the day and would open tomorrow once all ride vehicles had been inspected.

Has anyone heard anything else on this? Any links (I searched, even on the news site and couldn't find anything so I'm wondering if it's legitimate)?

I love how they pipe in the other complaints at the park..I personally like the 81 year old complaining of back pain after riding nemo....HeeeLLLO your 81 years old ...things are gonna hurt !!!!! And the 77 year old reporting memory loss after going on TOT....Sorry, but I'm sure if they interveiwed every person leaving one of the Disney parks, at least every other person would have something to say..Especially after a day of walking at the parks....I had a headache after riding Aerosmith ..(well actually I had one before the ride just intensified it after I got off)....Yes sometimes by back hurts at the end of the day ,,and I'm only 31.......And yes sometimes the stomach hurts, but thats only from eating to much food at the Parks.....It happens..sorry had to vent only beacuse I found it comical!!!!!

evac

Not that this incident might have called for it but how do they do a major evac on KS? Its not like you can just get off and walk and unless they are evac platforms really well hidden lol. I would assume other vechicals but just curious?

According to our local news this morning it was goig to be closed again today. Probably need to check all the vehicles to make sure the same problem doesn't happen to all of them.

This person didn't complain after riding Nemo....she fell getting on the ride. As for throwing in the reports of previous accidents....it's all relative, that's normal for news reports. One of them was from a different park as well. Sure things happen and you should expect certain things or be open to the risk....but is it so wrong to mention it in the paper? You mentioned all the 'comical' accidents as you put it....but what about the 34 yr old woman who broke a vertebra in her lower back, or the 44 yr old man who had a fatal heart attack?

Some people are going to get messed up. Look at the sheer number of guests that pass through those turnstiles. Some are going to be real, some are going to be idiots.

And I'm sorry, but how in the WORLD do you break one of your vertebrae on revenge of the mummy?

Uhh, Reason why lately I really don't like making posts .....I "meant" comical as the smaller incidents...yes I realize there are'nt really comical accidents ....wait ..why am I even bothering to explain....To those who understand what I was writing. thank you ...Those who did'nt ...sorry.....

I'd be pretty unhappy if I went to AK and the safari was shut down all day. I could understand EE closing, it's a roller coaster and if there is a technical problem, by all means, shut it down (I wouldn't be happy about it, but I'd understand.) But KS? It's trucks and animals. How could it be closed?

It would feel like if one of the Disney resort buses had a mechanical problem, so quick, let's shut down the entire transportation system.

I understand Disney has to be extra careful, but shutting down KS seems like shutting down all of AK to me. At least the incident happened later in the afternoon yesterday, so it really only closed an hour or two early. If they keep it closed today though, I feel sorry for the people visiting AK.

imagine if it was just a radiator hose and everyone jumped off because of some coolant smoke lol

Also, jumping off of the truck doesn't seem like such a good idea when there are cheetahs and rhinos around

That is EXACTLY what I was just thinking! My first thought was "oh wow, I wonder where during the ride they had to get off the truck". There are a couple of places where I might want to take my chance at the fire instead of jumping down with no barrier between me and the animals!!!!
