Switching Jobs in Same Dept

Are you allowed to switch jobs in the same department before 6 months? Or does that apply to all job transfers. Like, if I were a character attendant, could I switch over to character performer before 6 months since both are in entertainment?

Well, they are the same department, but they aren't. If you audition for an entertainment role and get it, you can switch within 6 months. It is a new job. I think you can always start a new job no matter how long you've been at the old one. I think the transfer guidelines are if you wish to change your days off or you wish to switch from MK merchandise to Epcot merchandise. But I'm not positive on any of this.

The 6 month rule applies to hourly cast members only, involved in a lateral transfer. So if you're transfering to a role with a higher pay-grade, it does not apply.

Well, that actually wouldn't work for entertainment. You could transfer from performer to attendant, but you can't do the same the other way around (unless you pass the audition).

Not so much pay scale as Labor Grade. If you're moving to a labor grade that is < or = to your current labor grade, you have to be in that role at least six months. If you're moving up a labor grade, there's no waiting period. If you're not sure what labor grade you are or what you're moving into, you can ask your neighborhood ETR Clerk or Cast Service Manager.

THey're numerical values given to hourly roles to represent the total payscale of a role (not just entry pay, but the entire pay scale from low to high for one particular role). Like I said, if you have questions about the 6 month rule, speak with your manager or your neighborhood ETR clerk. They will be able to assist you.

For most of them they have been grandfathered in. I know of at least one character attendant who has been accepted recently as a character. And then the other day, I saw an entertainment manager in a character attendant costume. Go figure.
