Adjoining rooms or suites?

A coworker knows how much of a Disney fanatic I am and asked me if I could help him 'plan' their trip. Am thrilled to be taking this on since we won't be going back for awhile... I've only stayed on property once (this past Sept at POP and loved it) so I'm not an expert on all the properties. Do any of the onsite properties have adjoining rooms or 2 bedroom suites?

He also wanted my recomendation on 1 resort from each category. I based majority of my decision on reading reviews fromthis and other sites so I recommended the following. Good recs?

Value: POP!
Moderate: POFQ
Deluxe: Poly

The only value resort with suites is All-Star Music, but you can also get suites in the deluxe resorts. If you just need to sleep 5, Port Orleans Riverside has a few trundle rooms too.

As far as "adjoining" rooms, I believe that you mean connecting rooms, and they are available at all the resorts I believe. (Note:connecting rooms are connected - adjoining rooms are generally located in the same corridor, but do not share common doors.)

Hope this helps!

Another option would be a 2-bedroom villa at one of the DVC resorts. You don't have to be a member to stay at them, you can pay per night. The 2BR units sleep 8: Master bedroom with king bed, 2nd bedroom with either two queen beds or a queen bed and a full-size sleeper sofa, and there's a sleep sofa in the living room.

The drawback is that they'll have to pay quite a bit for the 2-bedroom villa. It's usually more than the price of two rooms at the adjacent hotel. Old Key West and Saratoga Prings are the cheapest DVC resorts, with a 2BR ranging from $530-875 a night, depending on season. The prices then range up to $610-1140 at the Boardwalk, Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge Villas.

There's also the possibility of renting points from a DVC owner, but that belongs in a thread all on its own.

We had six going at one time so I booked two rooms at Music and it worked out great for us. It's nice to have two bathrooms & two TV's. We put the kids in one and we had a king bed in our room. :)

The wilderness lodge has jr. suites. They are good for a family, but not two families. Beware on the suites, some are simply living rooms with a normal bedroom on each side whereas others are more like two or three bedroom apartments (Saratoga Springs, Beach Club, etc.)

The value resort that has 2 bedroom suites is the All-Star Music Resort.
I believe there are 2 bedrooms, a living area & a kitchen.

It's one bedroom (with a king bed), two bathrooms, a living area and a kitchenette area. The living area has fold-out furniture that sleeps 4. Essentially they took two standard All-Star rooms and re-configured the walls a little.

Keep in mind that Disney does not gurantee connecting rooms which could really screw you over if you don't get it. This happened to me for the first night of our trip. It becomes a pain and not a fun way to start your trip. Hope that helps.

Depending on the make up of the group, i.e., two pairs of adults vs. adults and more than two kids, you could get by with just having rooms near each other.

We often visit WDW as two or more sets of two adults. When we make our reservations, each group requests to 'be near Guest xxxx who is checking in on xxxx'. This has worked out quite well. Not only have we been in rooms that were next to each other but, all times but one, the rooms connected.

Unless extra kids are involved who need the supervison provided by connecting rooms, just being in the same building works out.

Good luck
:)

And in the case of extra kids that require the supervision, they can usually guarantee you connecting rooms (as long as it's possible... I've heard there are some situations where there physically aren't any connecting rooms, such as Standard View rooms at the Wilderness Lodge)

I am pretty sure it is one bedroom with a pull out sofa & a chair that makes a bed in the den area. This is why we thought it would be more comfortable to get two rooms. I know that you give up the tiny kitchen area but it only has a counter space & a small fridge.

According to AllEars:

There are 192 suites in the Jazz and Calypso buildings. Each suite will sleep up to 6, plus one child in a Pak-n-Play crib. The master bedroom/family room has a 27" flat screen TV as well as high speed internet access. There is a queen bed (sleeps 2), full-size pullout sofa (sleeps 2), convertible ottoman and chair sleeper (sleeps 2). The kitchenette has a microwave and small refrigerator (4.3 cubic feet) plus a coffeemaker. There are two full bathrooms.
