so what was the BIG OCT 1 announment?

Hey, people were posting about this great Oct 1st announcement ..

well what is it? YOMD continuing? I think we all knew that months and months ago..

I was hoping for a new E ticket somewhere.. a BIG change coming..

and now it seems like something less then one person popping one bottle of champagne in the middle of the World Showcase.. meaning that no one heard nothing at all..

disappointing to say the least..

There were no announcements made. Here's a brief summary of the official stuff they did yesterday:
1. Free 25th pin to each guest as they entered the Park.
2. Special 25th Park map containing current and original layouts.
3. Rededication ceremony duplicating the pouring of international waters into the "Communicore Fountain" (their words). There was also a historical speech given by Marty Sklar.
4. A retrospective display of EPCOT Center next door to the Fountain View.
5. Seminars with Marty Sklar about the history of EPCOT Center held in the Circle of Life Theater.
6. Original music played throughout the day as well as original menus for many of the restaurants.
7. Special merchandise like the 1982 Spaceship Earth t-shirt and limited edition Dreamfinder Figment.
8. Special ending to Reflections of Earth involving a LOT of fireworks.
9. A new laser projection on Spaceship Earth showing the original logo, which then became the new one.

That's all of the official things I can recall, though I may have missed something.

i was hoping they would announce moving leave a legacy out of the front of the park to a more appropriate spot.I guess not .

Where did Disney say anything about an announcement being made? Be disappointed all you want, but the event was really cool. Any expectations about a MAJOR announcement being made were only perpetrated by internet fanboys, and monorail drivers.

I agree, it must have been a magical day in EPCOT! :wave:
It would have been nice to hear of things to come (like the imagination pavillion) or even what to expect on SSE. I know people kept saying things will be announced on Oct 1st. Hopefully, there will be a huge announcement soon. Has anyone heard any news on SSE or any new rides/rehabs?

I wouldn't have expected Disney to make any major announcements yesterday. I don't think they would have wanted to take away from The 25th anniversary.

I was told that it will stay up for 30 days . Then we were told that it will stay up for 90 days. I think it should stay for a year. There is really nothing in the spot that it is in anymore.

I also support the motion of it being open for a year. This should not have been a one day celebration, it should be a year. As long as Epcot is 25, it should celebrate.
