Part 1:

What are the rules for MNSSHP costumes?

Part 2:

Vote on costumes! I can't decide what to wear, so you get to see some of my options and help me decide. Please tell me if a certain costume is going to be problematic with the rules or comfort or something.

Without further ado.. Costumes!

#1 Christmas Tree:

Why a Christmas Tree? Well, why not? It's bizarre, adorable, and totally unexpected. Plus I want to figure out a way to string Mickey Mouse lights on it. Would the size be a problem?

# 2 Lobster

I have no idea why, I just love the idea of being a lobster. I used to want one of those "Free the Lobsters!" s. I am worried about the claws and not being able to do anything.

# 3 Traffic Light

It actually lights up! Well, sayings inside each color light up. Super nifty!

# 4 Penguin

My other half loves this costume. I like the feet and I suppose going as a penguin and a christmas tree could work..

# 5 Grapes (Green or Purple)

Aren't they cute? The grapes are balloons, but i think i could stuff them with batting to be more sturdy. Suppose I would fit in any rides?

# 6 Tiki Drink

Because i'm stayin at the Poly, perhaps something themed to it?

Okie dokie, poll should be up within moments! Looking for both myself and the other half (who is not nearly as afraid of being a fool in public).

Well, as fun as all of those look, hopping onto attractions might be a little tricky with most of them.

I know one of the adult costume rules is not wearing anything which conceals your face. Not sure if the lobster costume would work in that case.

I think the traffic light or the tiki drink would be the easiest to get around in and for rides, and it leaves your arms/hands free. They are both great, although If I wasn't worried about getting around the parks, I'd totally go with the Christmas Tree, love it :)

Merf, I'm surprised that you don't want to go as your favorite thing: Epcot!
Just wear your Spaceship Earth Mickey ears (that you made) use some Silver Hair Spray and silver makeup. Then take some photos of FutureWorld attractions and print onto T-shirt iron-on transfer sheets apply to the front of a t-shirt (World Showcase photos goes on back of shirt). You could even paint pavillion logos with directional arrows down the legs of your pants.
If you're worried no one would know what you are, the just carry "the Wand":ROFLOL:.

Your other half could be another Park, they sell the "Studios Icon" hats everywhere and you can find castle hats at some locations.

I voted for the Tiki drink but I wouldn't wear any of them either. I can't imagine walking around the park at night, getting in and out of rides, or trying to walk through the stores in a big bulky costume of some sort. I've never been to one of these Halloween Parties, do alot of adults actually wear costumes like these?

People wear all sorts of stuff. I'm just of the opinion that if you're gonna do it, you might as well really go with it. No "this is my costume" t-shirts.

Edit to add: I've already got my pillowcase-style treat bags :) I shall fill it and be happy :)

Halloween night two years ago (2005) the best costume of the night by far was the Knight Who Says, "Ni!"

So yeah...people do dress up in some out there costumes!

Costume Rules and some new questions

I just got my tickets in the mail for MNSSHP this weekend. On the letter it gave the rules for costumes:
-cannot intefere with you or other guests entering/viewing attractions or using transportation. (including viewing parades and using monorail, trans, ferrys).
-cannot be offensive to other guests.
-cannot contain a weapon that resembles or can be mistaken for a real weapon.
-cannot completely cover your face.

I think that is all of the rules. I have some questions for someone though too!
#1) How early can you get into MK for MNSSHP? I know the event officially starts at 7pm but I thought I heard you can enter as early as 5pm. Do they to the Halloween Party like they do EMH?

#2) If adults do not wear a costume, do we still get to "trick or treat" and get lots of candy? I have a group of 6 adults going and none of us have ever been. I'm just curious about the rules on the candy...

Thanks for your help!

I voted for the tiki drink, but then again, I'm partial to all things tiki.
I love the tree though, but I don't think you'd be able to sit comfortably for rides and shows. Same holds true for the grapes---can you imagine sitting on that?
And since your our main picture taking person, I think that the penguin and lobster get knocked out of the running because you wouldn't be able to operate the camera through those mittens.

I was wondering how I could go as SSE this year, and I came up with some sort of costume similar to the tree---flat on the front and back (probably like 1/2 foam covered in fabric and/or painted) and either with some sort of band around the edges, or hung over me like a sign board. But in the end, I'm going as Alice in Wonderland. I'll save SSE for another year.
