yes! i got a chococat doll last year, my fiance bought it for me bc i missed my kitty at home so much

Apparently, I am the only one who doesn't know what the heck a "monchichi doll" is. Can anyone share? The only reason I opened this post, is b/c I had no idea what the poster was referring too.:lol:

If memory serves me correctly, Monchichi is a monkey looking doll thing(a kind of stuffed animal with a hard face, hands and feet) that you can put it's thumb in it's mouth. There was a weird little annoying song from the commercial and when I read the thread, parts of that song popped into my head. It's something like this, " Monchichi, Monchichi, oh so soft and cuddly. With a thumb in it's mouth he's really sweet", there is one or two more lines but, I just can't remember them. I think they said something about it being really neat.
Anyway, I had one, they were cute and I think it was pretty popular in the early 80's. Parts of the 80's are a blur:lookaroun !

Though personally, the Monchichi dolls I find horribly creepy. Then again, I've never liked dolls of any kind. *shrugs* Your mileage may vary.

My mother used to have two from goodness knows how long ago in her old Venezuela days...
when i saw one at Japan at the world showcase i almost flipped to see that they were actually a known thing! Haha... before my time, i suppose...not to mention, well... I'm a boy! *sticks out tounge*

I actually just went to Tokyo at EPCOT yesterday! And made sure to look out for Monchichi dolls because of this thread. Although there were very very few there (a fairly small rack...compared to pokemon and hello kitty, haha), her presence at the showcase is still...well...present, heh.
On a side note...i was kinda sad at how many of the new pokemon i couldn't name anymore :-[ . after the first 150 or so, i guess i lost my touch

I hate myself for knowing this, but I am a child of the '80s, I watched a lot of cartoons, and my sister loved the things, so: "Monchichi Monchichi, oh so soft and cuddly. With a thumb in their mouth its really neat, fun to play with their little feet. Ya ya ya, ya ya ya. Happy happy Monchichi." I feel so ashamed. I'd feel even more ashamed if I was absolutely sure about that last sentence.
