Interesting Tidbit about Imagination Rehab

I searched and didn't see this anywhere but last night on Sorcerer radio's request show the indicated that not only would we be getting a big Imagination rehab but none other then John Lassiter was behind it. Tends to make me think if it does happen maybe it will be done right. They also indicated that HISTA would be gone but seemed to say perhaps that area might be used for more ride as well.

Thats the plan. Its gunna be a much bigger project than I had anticipated last year in my report. The description I was given a couple of days ago was, "this is the refurbishment to end all refurbishments of Imagination for a good while (meaning at least 10-15 years)."

Sure hope something happens here! They can't even get the preshow to HISTA right - the "old " version was the only good thing about "Imagination"!

This makes my day. :D

Dreamfinder's still included, right?

I hope they do it right so I will be happy to show my figment tattoo in public again....

Thats a joke, I dont have a figment tattoo, but if they do this right, I might get one. :D

Why would they want/need to get rid of the theater? Can't they route the ride upstairs? Wasn't it like that in the past? I don't like HISTA very much, but I don't know why they'd rip out the theater. Seems like they could find something Imagination-ish to make a 3D Show out of...

I do like the idea of John Lasseter being at the helm, though. Can't wait to see what will happen with this project.

That's great!

But I'm not sure about Lasseter. Wasn't he the one behind the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage? That attraction really kind of stunk. And not only that, but what if he adds some PIXAR characters to the ride? I think he's given more credit than he deserves sometimes. I would much rather Tony Baxter on the project...

The more rumors that continue to surface, the more they all start to fall in accordance with each other and make this seem very credible. I'm excited and hope a lot of the original ideas are incorporated.

Ooh...I hadn't thought of that...:lookaroun

I hope the original splendor and whimsiness is brought back, but I'd like to see a completely new version. Something different.

The ride has always been in the same space it is now. The current implementation uses less of the ride space then the previous version (the queue and loading actually goes into the old ride area).

The post-show area was upstairs.. and that's where all the cool toys were. And of course the 'atrium' area you don't go in anymore.

Report? I looked on your website and didn't see anything; is this a document that could be made available to me? Also, any chance you could say where exactly (or vaguely) your source works?

Aside: Also, I would like to compliment you on not only the quality of your posts, but your resourcefulness and dedication to all things Disney. I never had any idea you're only sixteen until reading the Sentinel article, and not to sound condescending at all (I took similar comments the same way when I was your age...not that I am that much older now), but I was quite shocked that you're so young. Anyone should be proud of some of your accomplishments!

based on the research I've done in the past (I suck at citing sources) I seem to remember that as huge as the old ride was it still didn't completely fill up the ride building - that building is absolutely ginormous; it was designed way before they had an attraction for it. The current ride takes up like a third or a quarter (?) of the ride show building.

The original took up all the space; it was always intended to have that layout - it was just late opening. The 1998 rehab saw the track shortened by 40%. Boo hiss.

So far as I`m aware, the coming rehabs theatre phase should retain the Magic Eye Theatre, but with new guest flow patterns.

Strangest refurb I've seen in a while.
On again...off...on again...off...on...

It was only a month or so that the word I got was that it was shelved for the near future. Now word is trickling in that it is alive. Can't confirm that Lassater is directly involved.

I need a source on that project so I don't have to settle for second hand info. :lookaroun

It's about time! I don't like to visit the attraction since they changed it. Really, the original opening has been the only good thing about the attraction.
But that little Figment is adorable, and hopefully the upgraded attraction will be changed into something that truly stimulates out imaginations.

Lasseter should do an adequate job with the attraction (as the plans do have some left over pieces from back when Tony was still involved in the project).

I released the report a while ago, but to much controversy (and too many people claiming my report as their own), I had to pull it before things got out of hand. I'm sure you can still find a copy of it somewhere, but I have refrained from re-releasing it due to the mess it made last time. Also, the information given in my report is not "as accurate" anymore because the project has obviously been adjusted since the time I wrote the article (directly after Jim Hill released his article on the upcoming changes at WDI). As for my source(s), I can't disclose where they come from just because there is always the issue of some person alerting Disney that some kid had been name dropping employees, Imagineers, reporters and more, saying that he has been getting information from them. Let me just say that while I am only 16 years old, my resolve is strong and my feelings about rumors are very sensitive. I only release information that has been deemed "releasable," much like our other insider friend ReDisney. I never lie about my information, and I never release information that I feel could be found false. I know how much I hate reading false rumors and dealing with the hype that follows (for those of you who missed the Disney in Fresco, Texas incident, you would see what I mean), so I vowed to never sell false information or information that I didn't have a guarantee from the person(s) who told me that it was true. I very rarely post information on projects still in the conceptual phase, just because it is too debatable.

As for my age, I try not to let it "slow me down" or hold me back. As I have said before, I plan on pursuing my goal to be an Imagineer and by working so hard now I get to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies and align my future for a position at WDI. The way I like to think of it is, "if I can do all of this at 16, imagine what I can do when I actually work for Disney." In the time until I actually have a solid career within the company, my work on my website, on the campaign and of course, on Celebration 25 help me to stay connected to one of the things that I am most passionate about in this world. I thank you for your complements and I hope to continue to impress as time goes on.

Alright... My rant seems to be done. :D
