I just saw on disneyworld.com that BTMRR is going to be down for rehab in October - if this has already been posted here and I've missed it, I do apologize.

The dates listed are October 1-24, 2007.

Thankfully, this time frame doesn't impact my trip. It's my favorite ride. I feel sorry for of you that won't get to enjoy it during your stays.

What's the scoop on this rehab? Anything more than basic maintanence? Maggie

Interesting. My planned trip to WDW is Oct. 21-26. Maybe I will catch it at the end of my stay.

Minor refurb? I say this because lok at Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth -- those are major rehabs.

a little over 3 weeks has to be minor...just a small sprucing up. The type of projects they tend to do in time periods like that are updates to dispatch systems, replacement of parts (like placing new chains on the chain lifts), painting, etc. I would not expect to see a loop installed :D

it's not really that bad...this will be after HM reopens...one big ride closed at one park (especially during the October "off-season") is not a big deal at all, nor is it to be unexpected. We should be happy that these projects are taking place. Disneyland found out a few years back just what happens (on Big Thunder, no less) if you cut back on these projects...people die. Sorry if it's during your trip, but I'm sure we all agree that surviving all of the rides is usually a pretty nice perk that we can expect from Disney (not so much at Six Flags).

Sigh... I`ll miss it. With DLPs still fresh in my mind I wanted to revisit the 2nd version again. At least the HM will be all shiny and polished :D

I assume it`s just a general rehab and nothing major? Bit of paint, do the ride system, clean out Tumbleweed etc...?

It's time. I'm there every year and it's the first time I noticed that various elements really needed some attention. The ride itself was fine, but there is a missing rock in the tunnel (all you see is a big metal pole and clamp), some animatronic issues, and painting that needs to be spruced up. I am very forgiving about theming issues needing upkeep, but it was pretty glaring. Time to dust, paint, clean, and repair for BTMR!

Is it just me or is that chain lift the loudest thing in WDW?
Please fix that!
