Yes... Not really.

I don't trust a panel of consumers to review a product fairly. I trust experts :)

I agree. If you want a hair drier, get the one Consumer Reports recommends. If you want a car, get the one that makes your down-belows feel tingly.

I know a lot of happy people with VW's. Good friends on the family own an Auto body shop, and they say that VW's are quality machines. So I would naturally advise you to go with the Jetta. I was looking at a Touareg the other day too, but I don't know where I am going with this.

My older sister bought a Touareg V8... had the entire drivetrain replaced under warranty. She ended up selling it back to VW as a lemon. She swapped it with a V10 Diesel, figuring VW diesels are extremely reliable in Europe. She sued VW to buy it back.

Now she has a Murano and loves it :)

Ironically, she has her original 1993 Jetta and it runs like new.

Coincidentally, I was looking at a Murano as well. They sure are nice and I've been noticing a lot more of them on the roads. I was also looking at a Cayenne. Then I figured it would take a midlife crisis to get that into my garage, and I am no where near that. So it will probably be between a Murano and a Touareg in the near future.

The Cayenne is the ugliest piece of ________ I have ever seen. It's got a Porsche badge... unfortunately, it's attached to a tank.

May I make the decision for you?
Mind says Corolla
Heart says Jetta

split the difference and you get the Mazda 3, but unfortunately, it's sized out of your range.

They're offering some really good deals on the Mazda 6 right now, which would would make it rather affordable, so I'd check that out as well.

Check out the Sentra.. I'm serious :) or perhaps one of the lower trims on a Subaru Impreza?

:ROFLOL:

I think Linda's sick of me calling them "abominations" every time we pass one.:lookaroun

Not bad for an SUV, and If someone put a gun to my head and told me I had to buy a behemoth, I'd consider one (they're actually pretty inexpensive), but I'm really disappointed that Porsche sold out like that.

I didn't think it was that bad.

It has a similar body to the Touareg and Murano with some standard Porsche deviations. Like the head lights, etc. And if I remember correctly, It's also wider.

EDIT:When I say Cayenne, I mean Cayenne Turbo. :o Looks like the prices have changed since the last time I checked. The prices are more reasonable now, but $100 grand isn't cheap.

I would not pick a car based on the upholstery of the interior, unless it was a luxury 2nd or 3rd personal vehicle.

If it is to be your main mode of transportation it should be looked at from your practical side.

I've made up my mind!!!!

I'm going with the Jetta. I'm getting a $24k car for $19k in the Jetta, or a $19k car for $19k in the Corolla.

The Jetta was my favorite when I first drove it, so I'm sticking with my initial favorite.

Thanks everyone for your input!! I really appreciate it!

Mazdaspeed3

It's got 5 doors, wagon, small enough to fit in most parking spots. Typical Mazda reliability (the RX7 was a fluke!)...

...and it conveniently does 0-60 in under 6 seconds, can do 162mph (reported on a delimited US-Spec model on an unlimited section of 'za Autobahn'), and has 250hp.

Practical enough for me :D

I think some people seriously led you astray.. but if you want to know how the Jetta will breakdown as soon as you're out of the limited warranty period, feel free to pick up consumer reports :)

I have a pontiac vibe, which satisfied a lot of things for me. I have the aggressive pontiac styling - and the corolla engine. If you want the same reliability as a corolla, get a vibe or Matrix - they are exactly the same car with different exteriors.

Just food for thought if you're concerned about looks. :)

just hit 60,000 miles, and nothing has gone wrong yet :)

I think it's her money, and ultimately her choice. And only 1 person tried to lead her to the Jetta :)
