I only been to MK once in my life and only for 1 day my idiot boyfriend now husband made me leave before it got dark so if they had fireworks I didnt get to see them.. I have made his life hell ever since lol j/king. And I bring it up often that he ruined my 1st Disney experiance.
Well now we have a 3yr old daughter who just wants to go so badly.
Mr. Scrooge decided that next year we will go she will be old enough to enjoy most of it.

Now I had 1st planned the 1st week of June, but now thinking May would be better to avoid the summer crowds, plus having the perk of my girl not in school yet too.

So here is my question during May do they have parades and fireworks, I have one of those disney vac books and they say they dont do this in this month.
Is this truely a good time to go? parks open late enough, extra magic hours? Waterpark warm enough (i am a northerner) to enjoy? possible free dining plan offers?

I already know I want to stay at the Coronado Springs resort staying 5 nites till we move over to Daytona beach for a few more days till its time to take that massive car ride back north. 16hrs

I went in May 2006 and it was fantastic. Light crowds, and trust me it is plenty warm for water parks. It was downright hot at times. I would do both of them if you can. They have fireworks every night all year round. I can't imagine them ever just not having fireworks...it is part of the Disney experience. It looks like on nights that they close early they do not have Spectromagic nighttime parade. If they don't, it will mention it on the Disney calendar...you can click on the date to see what is going on and when at each park:

May is one of my favorite times to go to WDW. The crowds are not bad at all - the spring breakers are all back at school and the summer holidays haven't started. The main draw in May is the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, but Epcot handles large crowds better than most of the parks.

I've gone the 1st week of May several times and have experienced very light attendance. For crowd calendars, got to www.touringplans.com to check the dates that you are considering.

Have a great trip!

May has always been a good time for my trips to Disney. Its usually in the 80's, decent crowds and decent park hours. I prefer it over going in June.

Heading for the great escape.
Until President Blairs ruling Junta made it illegal to take holidays in term time we always used to go in May, usualy late May when the London schools had a week off so as the kids only missed 5 days.

A great time to go, everything open and the crowds lively enough to give plenty atmosphere. Also there is the Flower & Garden Festival and Star Wars weekends ( in June this year).

DBF and I went in may 06 and had a great time. Crowds were managable and we were there for the star wars weekend. The weather was great and yes they did the parades and fireworks. :)

Used to go during May when I was in college. Everything was running, the crows weren't bad, and the weather was beautiful!! If you can swing it, definately go for it!

We are going the last week of May this year and I was wondering about Memorial Day and what kind of crowd that will bring in. Will it just mainly be that Monday or will the rest of the week be affected too?

We have been twice in May, the first two weeks, and loved it. The weather was warm and sunny. The crowds were light. The F&G festival at Epcot is beautiful. You definitely will not regret going in May.

Yes, yes, yes! I took my DS(5) last year the last week of April, first week of May (I think the dates were April 27-May 3). It was absolutely wonderful. Very light crowds, great weather (didn't even need a sweater or jeans), great character interactions, and no bugs that we ever encountered! :)

I have been to WDW twice in May and it one of the best time of years to visit! Everything is open and the weather is great! In fact, I am heading down again this year for the first week of May.

I believe the first two week of May are best. Many schools in the US start to release for summer vacation in mid May.

Have a great trip!

I have arrived on Memorial day or the Tuesday after several times. usually this means that we are just in time for everyone to be checking out. While that weekend and Memorial Day both have big crowds I can tell you that the week that follows is pretty light.

We've been in May the last 5 years or so. We go for the DW's Birthday and Mohter's day. THey typically are the same week. We'll be there 5/11 - 5/19 this year. Crowds are not bad, weather is always sunny & warm (we're ready to get out of the Ohio winter weather). Flower and Garden festival are great. Every once and a while a ride will still be in maintenance but that is a rarity. Go and have a great time.

May is Wonderful....

My family has been 3-4 times in May. It has always been the week of Mother's Day. Aside from December, it is our favorite time of year to go. The weather is awesome & you've got the Flower & Garden Festival which is fabulous. Enjoy....

Next trip: December 7-15, 2007
